So, I'm at the Target by my work and I see something interesting and unexpected; a single Life Toucan Trap. When were these released by themselves and not as part of the 8-Pack with Steamed Broccoli Guy? I see nothing else that's unexpected, so... Hmm.

Did it have steamed broccoli guy inside?

They are in the Wave 2 boxes of traps. I think there is only 1 per box (of 24), that may mean they are rarely seen.

I haven't purchased it yet, but I doubt it since there is nothing on the packaging to indicate that the Villain is "captured inside".

Yeah, I've had this for a long time... is it rare?

i didn't think they were rare they are one of the traps i see the most.
It's also one of the only traps I think i'm just going to have to accept two of because I saw no reason to give Broccoli guy a bird trap when you actually had a bird villain in the life department.
But I decided to give them both Toucans.

Whats so fake about it? IT has Riot Shield Shredder in it then its REAL ! Whether it was hacked or a error, RSS is in the trap when NORMALLY it wouldn't be !

The Life Traps that contain Riot Shield Shredder were produced much earlier than the Trap that contains Steamed Broccoli Guy.

There are multiple reasons why it's most likely a fake:

A) (Most likely) The Torch mold was cut off/taken out and replaced with the Toucan mold.

B) It was hacked.

C) (Least likely) It could be an actual error.

Anyway, we're getting off-topic here.


On-topic: Yes, the Life Toucan was available in a Single Pack during the release of Wave 2. They do not contain Steamed Broccoli Guy.

Single pack life toucan was a part of wave 2, and was pretty uncommon at the time of its release, I see them everywhere now though. So its nothing special

Then it would show as the torch mould in game which it doesn't. It shows as the toucan mould with RSS in it.

Doesn't really matter. Still works like it should.

This is just as plausible as any other figure error. As simple as the chip being in the wrong pile.

crstofer have you seen what happens when you load the trap with Broccoli guy?

A toucan chip may have got mixed into a batch of life torch chips that were being coded for RSS.

Activision does not purchase Toucan chips or Torch chips, they purchase chips. Therefore its not a matter of grabbing the wrong chip. Activision has to program each chip for the correct mold/figure type. My point is, the manufacturer didn't just 'grab' the wrong chip, since there are two separate pieces of data that have to be encoded. The mold type and the stored variant.

Only two possibilities exist,

1) The toy manufacturer (not Activision or Toys For Bob) correctly encoded the mold ID and THEN reprogrammed the chip the wrong villain data

2) Someone changed the encoding after the fact

I'm so tired of these crazy comments.. The dang trap was purchased with riot shield shredder in it. I didn't change the code, make a bs video, etc.. I bought it because I didn't believe it was true. Unfortunately it is.. RSS is in the dang trap.. People are getting ridiculous. If you have so many worries whether it's hacked or whatever should have just bought the trap and investigated for yourself before u make all the bs claims.

I think it is likely real. As both trap designs have variant villains and it's very reasonable to assume it's a manufacturing error. If it was a life hammer for example it would more than likely be fake.

Did you try putting shield shredder in the trap? Both variants in 1 trap would be cool.

The trap sits on a shelf... Lol.. I checked it out enough to verify and take a pic and that's it..

Put it this way, if it wasn't for people trying to custom paint Skylanders just to resell them for a profit I would believe the claim. Since I have to put up with a ton of fake ones. (Now with Amiibo's also) I just find it hard to believe right now that a random person found a Riot Shield Shredder in a Life Toucan Trap with no box or anything and has been mentioning it for a while.

Wouldn't there likely be more fakes though. This is the only trap "error" I've seen.
