I played spyros adventure and giants but i stopped buying skylanders bc it was a lot of money for a game that you'll only play until you beat it and nothing else to do after. But does swap force and trap team have good replay value? is it worth buying?

Apart from the story mode, trap team has the arena and kaos mode (these are mainly battle modes against hordes of enemies, not pvp) which may take you like 5-10 hours to beat both. You also have the nightmare mode, which is the same as the story mode but with increased difficulty. Unless you have dozens of skylanders and you want to try them all; I would say those are the main elements which will keep you playing for a short while after you beat the story mode. That's why they should add online mode in the next skylanders and increase the 20th level cap of max development.

I forgot to mention you also have the cards mini gamae (Skystones Smash), but I personally don't find it extremely fun,

It seems money is your primary issue, so I suggest picking up Swap Force right now for $15-20 and wait until late summer or fall when Trap Team will be $25 or below. If interested, you can use the GameStop.com inventory checker for the dark edition of Swap Force...stores are clearing them out for $30 I believe.

If you like them, SWAP Force has a lot of extra modes (Time Attack, Score Mode, Bonus Missions, Arenas and of course PvP), and characters have Quests to complete, just like in Giants.

Trap Team doesn't have PvP, has the Kaos Doom Challege (which are basically arenas where you have to protect a special box, which contains a super strong enemy, and also has some turret defence elements), Arenas, but no Bonus Missions, Quests or increased level cap (it's the same as SWAP Force, so, if you don't have any of the two, it shouldn't be a problem.
It has a time trial mode, where you have to beat the levels under a certain time period, but it's more likely the one that was in Giants.

If moneys are important for you, I would suggest SWAP Force.

It objectively needs less purchases and gives more value to your already exsisting collection.

You'll only need the two Adventure Packs (Tower of Time and Sheep Wreck Island) and a swappable Skylander for each movement tipe (8 in total, but two are already in the Starter Pack), assuming that you already have a Skylander from each Element.

Trap Team, on the other hand, requires you to buy at least a Trap Master from each Element (Snap Shot, a Water one, is in the Starter Pack), including the new ones, Light and Dark, at least a trap for each Element (a Water and Life one are included in the Starter Pack), including the Light and Dark ones, that currently come only inside the Expansion Packs, along with the Trap Masters and the Adventure Pieces for Midnight Museum and Sunscraper Spire) and the super special Kaos one, and finally the two new Adventure Packs, Nightmare Express and Mirror of Mystery).

Minis are not required, except for a single area in the hub, but you can reach it using Chill Bill, a Water villain.

It's tricky, but possible.

You have to jump under the wooden platform, and then use the jetpack attack.
It might take a few tries, but it is completely possible.

Inside the Library, where you talk to Quigley.

It's the area with the wooden platforms and the ladders.

Haven't tried with a Mini, so don't know about it, but you can jump under the lowest wooden platform with Chill Bill, and then use the jetpack attack to pass through it and reach the area.

Don't think that with only 12 story chapters and 5 boss chapters, two adventure packs in Swap Force that's it's a SMALLER game that Trap Team with it's 18 story chapters (boss battles inclusive) and 4 adventure/expansion pack levels. I consider Swap Force to have the best QUALITY content, even though it doesn't have QUANTITY. Don't forget that 20 Bonus Missions (all great and detailed challenges like Heroics) are in there along with many more modes (Score Mode, Time Attack, PvP, battle arenas). Also, not sure if anyone noticed but accolades disappeared in Trap Team as well, which were a method to get stars. Completionists have a MUCH more difficult time in Swap Force than Trap Team although Swap Force is much more nicer in terms of allowing you to max Portal Master rank without getting everything done, whereas to max this in Trap Team you literally have to get every star. For example, Swap Force gave recognition (in stars) for those having SSA or SG armies and magic pieces.

I've still not been able to get everything completed in Swap Force even in Easy Mode (such as don't get hit) because it's literally too hard for me. Short of completing Nightmare in Trap team I have every platform achievement, star etc you can get in Trap Team in under 20 hours or so and I can't really do anything with my previous army, short of bringing in hats if I so desire and/or register them in the game since quests/heroics are out and 20 is still the max XP level.

In short, I think I've had more FUN in Trap Team with the gimmick but replay value is low, whereas Swap Force has much more replay value for me personally--I was playing the game well into May/June of last year whereas I suspect Trap Team will be all wrapped up in a week or so (got it at Christmas) even though there's 20 characters not yet purchased. That will include maxing gold/XP for all characters as well.

In terms of replay value, indoubtly.

There are a lot of things to do, after completing the Story Mode (which is composed by only 12 or so levels, but quite long).

However, I enjoyed Trap Team much more, even if I admittedly have fewer things to do, now.

Just a tip: if you play the Skylanders games on the Wii, absolutely go with Trap Team.
SWAP Force was horrible and had lots of problems and missing contents, on it.
