Those sites are japanese imports. She's not exclusive to any retailer in japan, and you could even import her Here, if you wanted. but according to target.com... the 1st of january is wehen you need to get your butt down to target 8:00 am sharp..It's just the way nintendo rolls.

I was able to pre-order Lucario and Rosalina at just over US retail price from Amazon it. smilie Now I don't have to hunt for them! Anyone seen Shulk or Meta Knight overseas at a close to retail price?

You know, they kinda did this with Traps. I don't know if they had to use the chip in every Trap or there was an alternative they just chose not to use, but its signal is weaker than Skylander ones, which is why you need to open Traps and put them that slot to use them. Assuming there was an alterative that'd fit in a standard figure, they could've easily been redesigned to go upright on the Portal (heck, some of the sculpts already have makeshift bases, like the Rocket's stand- albiet, not the right scale, but still).

A blocked chip is a good idea to help preserve the product from being shop soiled . If the store had a demo portal and some kiddy grabbed a boxed skylander off the shelf and spent the afternoon playing with it . Thats rather unfair to the person who ends up buying that skylander .

Amiibo packaging has what basically amounts to tinfoil in the packaging to stop the figurine from being readable whilst still in the packaging - the opposite of what you can do with a S/Lander fig or even a DI one.

The question is if Activision will adopt that trend.

I don't even have a Nintendo game that does anything with Amiibo, so I don't see why I would buy them if I have nothing to use them with. They just seem really pointless. I did buy a Pikachu one, because I love Pokemon as well but that will be the only one I get probably. I would have liked a lucario but with the way that is being handled I do not need it that badly. Also they only save game data for one game at a time, so if you don't want to lose your data you have to buy a second Amiibo. The only way I would buy them is if they made an open world amiibo game.
