Seriously, there was only one major water level, and then the rest of the game barely has more water to enjoy. Seriously, I think that Spyro could have had some more things to do with the water mechanics, but I guess it's the whole limit with the PS1.

yes the ps1 was very limited, and the graphic was not doing it proper justice. so thats why it was only one major water level instead of many smaller levels with water.

Water levels are the worst, I hate Spyro water levels

Nah, the Sonic ones are more dire. You always need to get air bubbles, no matter what.

But Sonic actually controls well in water
Spyro doesn't, and the levels are obnoxious

Ehh. The water levels were ok, better than some games, but not my favorite. I think it was fine the way it was. Water levels tend to be annoying in most games (like Mario or Sonic), but Spyro did a good job I think. It was fun, but they didn't overdo it with too many water levels. So a nice balance there, not the most fun, but not horrifically obnoxious.

Spyro had good swimming controls, maybe I would have liked to have seen a couple more water levels, or levels with larger water segments.

I was okay with the one water level (and several beach levels) in this game, probably because I just didn't care much for them. There was plenty of other swimming to be had throughout the game and all the water stuff in YotD made up for it.

One: It was the first Spyro game that alouded him to swim. Two: though it was a good idea Insomitic probably had some trouble finding ways to establish it in the game.

I think Spyro controls pretty well under the water, there are a lot of games that couldn't control very well. I think some people don't appreciate certain aspects of Spyro sometimes.

The water levels in Spyro don't bother me, in other games they're usually pretty annoying though. |

I definitely thought Spyro did swimming right. Tight controls and, unlike all those N64 platformers, no need to come up for air. ^.^
