Honestly, I would prefer it if people don't wish me a happy birthday unless they actually really do give a ****. I already know that most people who say it just do it because they feel obligated to. They see my name and decide to tell me because my name was on the list of today's birthdays. I would still feel happy that someone took the time to tell me that, but at the same time unless we're at least kinda good friends they're mostly just empty words to me because I just feel like they don't actually mean it when they say "happy birthday." That's why I stopped doing that. It's not that I don't hope someone has a nice birthday, but if we are barely even acquaintances I don't think my "happy birthday" will mean much of anything. And for that reason, as mean as it may sound, I don't feel very enthusiastic about my own well-wishes when giving or receiving that "happy birthday."
