One of my exes (who is still 17, but only a few months younger than me) has taken to dating unemployed 20somethings.
If she gets pregnant before her birthday in April, she's ****ed up some guy's life.

This is completely subjective as age of consent here is 16. There's also a law that if someone is within five years of age with you then you are allowed to engage in intercourse (or something like that, I'm a bit rough on the details) and it's not considered pedophilia due to such. Honestly for the most part age doesn't matter to me, I mean, i wouldn't go dating a fourteen year old. I have a rule where I'll date anyone with three years of me atm. But my grandparents were seven years apart and my grandma knows a couple that are twenty years apart. So yea, age doesn't necessarily matter unless it involves 'statutory rape' Which in some cases is ****ing stupid because if you and your girlfriend consent to having sex then it really is your own damn business.

Agreed, the only time that an 18 year old should date a minor is if 1. They agree to not do it until the minor is no longer a minor 2. If the couple were together BEFORE the 18 year old turned 18 (If this happens then your less likely to get in trouble if they were indeed together before the 18 year old turned 18.) Also if you really are worried and your partner is at least 14, do note that in Japan the age of consent is 14.

Its both of their faults, the girl should have known better. As for my friend, I lost every inch of respect for him, especially when he started drinking, getting high, and as far as I know giving his girl friend at the time those things. Doesn't help that he also dated another fifteen year old when he was close to nineteen. What a fool. I'm ashamed to call him my "friend". I don't even know if him and I are even friends anymore, I try not to be around him or talk to him. |

I meant fifteen, guys. My bad. Age of consent is also different per state. Age of legal consent in Oregon is eighteen.

My requirements are as follows;
Must make me laugh I must make her laugh Must be both mentally and physically attractive in my eyes and I to her Has to have at least three common interests as me Should be willing to do things she wouldn't normally do, not exactly a requirement but something that would be cool. Basically would be willing to try new things such as if she never has gone golfing and I wanted to go golfing she'd be like 'k, let's do it, I'll kick your ass" Isn't a hardcore christian/other religion. Has to get along with my friends or at least pretend to. Can't smoke, do drugs, party non-stop or drink constantly. Must not be a man in disguise.....I won't be fooled twice Must be honest Also pls don't cheat Love me with all her heart <3 Also needs to be 5'11 exactly and have long legs with blonde hair and hazel eyes and wear a beret with a flower in it, anything except a chrysanthemum. No I'm joking......It can be a chrysanthemum. Obviously should share some of my ideals and not be racist to the max or sexist to the max or homophobic

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with a 16 year old dating an 18 year old, so long as they're relatively close in maturity level and cognitive ability. It's when you go into the 20s that it starts to become weird.

This topic seems to me yet another one of those where I can be quite hypothetical since romantic relationships are, have never been, and will probably never be my thing. But given the presumption that I search for relationship, there are three things that I want out of it, and on many cases, probably most, those three things make my chances of getting into one in the near future pretty non-existent. Of course there are personal and physical characteristics I would prefer.
My main three big picture terms are the following: no kids, no marriage and no living together. I am a difficult person to deal with on long-term daily basis so living under same roof and sharing intense ethical, moral, legal, etc. responsibilities such as children, common property and compromises of personal space and freedom is not a great idea because I would just end up loathing or downright not-caring about my theoretical significant other. And I have no plans whatsoever to actually reach those traditional human life arc achievements. But personality that gets me is a woman who knows what she wants. That is my requirement number one. She must have personal baggage and weaknesses as well because nothing is more boring than perfect. So eventually I want to find interesting personality who understands me, loves me and challenges me and makes me see things clearly. She must be at least in an adult age and can be at most slightly over twice my age. She can be shorter than me or can be as tall, or taller than me, she can be underweight, “normal” weight or overweight as long as she has personality that wakes up deep interest within me towards her. And if she is musically gifted, especially if she can sing like an angel, I am sold. She should also share same life philosophies in to a certain extent. If she has totally different principles and values than me, it can be highly difficult to co-exist in that relationship. But as I like to consider myself in real life, pessimistic nihilist with cynical, depressive and semi-misanthropic tendencies, she should have somewhat same approach but with that extra spice of rational humanity and more positive outlook towards things. So those are my terms of agreement in relationship. Of course in real world those things will never realize themselves. That is why I gave this as a hypothetical situation to describe a somewhat possible scenario if some girl can recognize the beauty in the beast and allow herself to get to know me. And as far as my text ended up, I must say that to me physical characteristics are not that important after all. Of course there are some that I have yeat not identified in my own world of desires maybe thing is symmetry or something. Carry on people…

I might give you more opinions... for a small fee of course. |

Ok lets throw a hypothetical out there, if you were 17 and were dating say a 16 year old. Then you turned 18 before she did, do you think they need to BREAK UP just because one turned into a legal adult. (going by the California age of consent)

When you say minor you mean like an 18 year old dating a 15 year old? I think that's fine, I mean, I almost was set up with one, I wasn't going to have sex with her of course however. Pretty much legally you can date whomever you wish because a relationship isn't exactly a legally binding contract and nor does it have any real right of passage like sex or marriage to portray that contract. If you're thirty and dating someone that young then plsnostahp

The first thing you notice about people is their physical appearance. You're mind will judge if they are interested in them from their looks. You don't notice personality from them until you have socialized with them.

Wow the amount of materialism in this thread is ridiculous.
I don't think I necessarily have a "type" I just like genuine and honest people. I also think ambition is a pretty important trait. Physical appearances are somewhat important but you're not going to get anywhere waiting for a greek god to walk by. |

Not sure if I'd call these 'rules', but alrighty.
1. Please don't be overzealous about whatever one believes (be it religion or not). I tend to keep my beliefs to myself and get annoyed when people try to shove their religion or lack of it down my throat. 2. Absolutely no illegal activities. 3. If people want to smoke, fine, they can, but I tend to be very sensitive (physically) to that sort of thing and thus it's not something I'd want to live with. So I'd hope that I'd meet someone who doesn't smoke. 4. Alcohol? Eh, fine. As long as one doesn't drink 24/7 and get drunk all the time. I'm also far more concerned with personality than appearance. I'd like to meet a girl that's an all-around good person, and we both share a lot of the same interests because then I feel more comfortable. I would also really hope that she'd also be asexual because I don't particularly desire someone trying to force/guilt me to do things I'm simply not comfortable with, nor do I like the thought that I'm 'denying' someone. I've seen far too many asexuals hurt by that sort of thing, and far too many asexual/not-asexual relationships collapse because of it that I'd rather not become yet another one. As for money... I'd just prefer it if we both paid for things together, instead of one of us paying for everything all the time. Not sure that's the right way to word it, but eh. |

I'm with you there. A good personality simply means so much more in a relationship than good looks. Even appearance-wise I think it's much more important that a person is not unattractive, than that a person is attractive. |
