I'm with you there. A good personality simply means so much more in a relationship than good looks. Even appearance-wise I think it's much more important that a person is not unattractive, than that a person is attractive.

Good way to put it.


As mentioned previously, it's just hard to accurately define abstract concepts such as human attraction. It's like trying to measure your mood using a "Heart Level" (looking at you, Chris Chan >.>).

This is really late, but I have to point out that this actually makes some people uncomfortable. Sure, it's a nice gesture, but to some it makes them feel that they then owe the person, or feel bad because they're not contributing. (I myself often feel uneasy with people buying me gifts for similar reasons. :/)
And of course, there is also Metallo's point of women taking advantage of such gestures and leeching off men for free food and entertainment.

In my opinion, the couple should share the responsibility of paying; it seems unfair for one person to be constantly paying for the both of them. ..Unless one's a millionaire and the other's dirt poor. But you get the point.

As for my rules.. Don't really have many, as I've never actually been in a relationship and am not currently looking for one, but big negatives for me are smoking, doing drugs and excessively drinking (and anything illegal, I s'pose). The smoking I'm slightly more okay with, but it's actually a little hazardous around me due to asthma, so it's not the best idea. The person must share a few common interests with me and must genuinely love me for who I am. Appearance doesn't really matter to me, but I would prefer someone who's not completely unattractive.

Well personally I believe in love at first sight so once I find 'the guy' I will judge his personality and looks and more then likely that will determine my preferences.I don't care if you smoke cigarettes(I would not enjoy it but smoking cigarettes is a personal choice) or drink alcohol(just not excessively).Just the one turn off is drugs or a big record(something like one or two instances of being arrested is okay,as long as they are no serious such as murder or other kind of stuff like that).

Eh, my rules are more for myself.

If I'm in a relationship
*I will treat it under the assumption that it will be permanent
*I will not allow myself to be attracted to any other female
*I will be as gentlemanly or perverted as they wish, within reason (no premarital ever though)
*I will not jump to conclusions if I suspect cheating; I would only be in a relationship with someone if I trusted them anyway
*I will never deliberately hurt their feelings
*I will avoid manipulation (if it's for their own benefit that is in some cases forgivable but normally just avoid it altogether)
*I will do all I can not to yell, even if they are
*I will prioritize my other above myself, I wouldn't be in a relationship if I didn't care large amounts about them
*I will not get in a relationship unless I have deep or potentially deep feelings for an interest, and it must be someone I care about and would not be closed off to the idea of sharing life with them

This exactly, the only reason I have this "rule" is so we are both contributing to said relationship. And yeah I don't like drinkers either.
