Skylanders Lost Islands has a picture in their promo showing wave 3 is now available in the game. Pet Vac is in this picture. Now batspin and high five are not so its got me wondering if I missed something? It has the 3 trap masters pictured, weeruptori, trailblazer and cobra cadabra. So whats up with pet vac? I tried to post the screenshot below. I'll try to post the picture for some reason my phone is taking forever to install flickr mobile.

Pet vac is not wave 3 unless they are releasing a buddy pack soon

^ I'm sure the buddy pack will arrive soon! It seems that's all Walmart has going for them this time around!

Its very likely, I never get the buddy packs though, i'd rather wait for the mini packs to come out

Its in the skylanders lost islands app. As waves are released they unlock the characters for purchase or to enter thr code on the sticker they come with to unlock them for free. I thought this was odd because noone has seen him yet but there he is with the title wave 3 under him. Lol

They'll usually unlock new characters a bit ahead of schedule of their actual, physical release from what I recall. If I'm remembering correctly, Jade Fire Kraken, Polar Whirlwind and maybe a couple of others followed this pattern, with them becoming available in Lost Islands first and then folks on here wondering for a couple of weeks or months when the actual toys would hit. Since Pet Vac is showing in the promo pic, he and his packmate (Gnarly Barkley is my prediction) will probably be part of wave 3.5 when it hits shelves in a few weeks.

Yes, he will be released in a buddy pack with jet-vac likely as wave 3.5, then released in wave 4 or 5 with breeze

Yep, you guys are right, I was thinking of the variant version of Pet Vac, figuring that the holiday themed minis would release together and the "regular" variants would release together (completely forgetting that the standard figure hadn't released yet). If they release the variant minis with their elemental packmates I'm going to be more than a little irate at having to buy all sorts of extra figures that I don't want and most likely won't be able to get rid of.

I understand they have listed figures early in the past lile jade fire kraken but it has always been a variant of another figure. I understand pet vac could be considered a variant but they usually keep those seperate. I wouldn't consider pet vac to be in the same category as jade FK, polar whirlwind, etc. My guess is like the rest of yours, just a guess but I would say a buddy pack is coming soon if they aren't doing this like the variants that have shown up early before. Only because it clearly says wave 3 in the picture. None of the previous early releases in the game were pictured with other fugures as a wave. Maybe he was scheduled to come out but they held it back. I'm hoping for a release soon tho based on this picture.

Since Activision/TfB never officially calls out partial/mid-quarter waves publicly as 2.5, 3.5, etc., maybe it's an indication that Pet Vac and Breeze are due out in 3.5 alongside the missing Frito Lay name contest cores. That would still make them wave 3, even though wave 3 has technically already come and gone at this point.

Wave 3 is most certainty not come and gone. For the majority of skylander consumers who don't watch this site for even a breath of new toy figure moves, I'd venture to say a ton of folks don't have wave 3 figures or minis, because if they didn't immediately know the location and be there early...they went without. I'd agree wave 3 is old news to US, but not the majority of fans.

My .02....mid January we'll see wave 3 and wave 3.5 released in full swing, along with our Love Potion Pop Fizz. Amazon just got wave 3 trap stock in today.

Since wave 3 came out pretty much everywhere pre-Christmas (save slower stocking Wal-Marts, apparently), I'd call it come and gone, even if there are still items from the current wave on the shelf in some places. I saw my local TRU and several local Targets totally depleted of their wave 3 stock with no restock yet appearing (or at least staying on the shelves) at those locations. We've not yet seen wave 3.5 or 4, but in my area and many others, wave 3 made a brief appearance and then kept on moving. If it's not come and gone due to still being on the shelves and being restocked, can't we make the same arguments for waves 1 & 2 since I still see those restocked regularly? The time for both launching has long since passed, but we're still seeing stock come onto and leave shelves.

Pre-Christmas wave 3 was in high demand/low supply. Trust me, wave 3 has just started. Wave 1/2 had 2 months of circulation...surely wave 3 will be more than one or two weeks of distribution. Also, this panned out in past years. They'll mix it in with holiday variants and 3.5 stuff.

I tend to agree with doug. If pet vac is coming out soon with bat spin, high five and nitro head rush I would consider that wave 3.5 until the next big release. It seems like the initial wave 3 release is over.

Wave 3 is far from being come and gone, most TRU stores have not received a shipment of wave 3 since initial release nor have they received any wave 3 trap shipments as of yet, wave 3 is just starting.

Waves can be staggered - here in Australia we get that all of the time. Bat Spin and High Five are out, just not in the States. In-game variants never strictly conform to the "wave cycle" so can be considered moot in that regard.

It is disengenuous to say just because they are not in your country, they are part of a wave. If we followed that, then Tread Head is potentially wave 3 and High Five is wave 2 as the latter came in the second cycle here in Oz but the former is not here yet. Hence, the common frame of reference is what came out in a certain window of time.
