Knight Mare originally an undead skylander?

I just put a hat on knight mare and the undead symbol appeared underneath her (like what happens when you put a hat on an undead skylander).

So was she originally planned to be an undead skylander?

I noticed that too.

It might be an oversight for both the Dark Skylanders.

Knight Light correctly displays a new "effect" (a light burst, similar to the Lightcore's one).

After looking more carefully, and comparing her to Bat Spin and Funny Bone, she actually has a leftover effect from SWAP Force when she lands on the ground.

Neither of those two Undead Skylanders have that light symbol effect, they simply create a grey clouds explosion, and scatter bones around.

Night Mare creates a black smaller cloud, which disappear more slowly, and doesn't scatter around the bones. The symbol is the only odd thing.

Maybe they will fix it with smaller patches, or at worst, in Skylanders 5.

Huh Swap Force you say? So could that mean they were originally going to put Knight Mare in Swap Force? Just a curious little detail you mentioned and I always want to figure out mysteries a franchise has.

Haven't tried Krypt King in a while, as it was my first maxed out Trap Team character, but I don't think that symbol is Trap Master's related in any way.

Many of these villains look like they were intended for a different element and for some reason ended up somewhere random. Either the creative juices stopped flowing or this light/dark thing was last minute. I vote for both.

In terms of digital effects, I'm sure a ton of these gets re-used. The skull underneath was either an on purpose with Dark element or they didn't bother changing it once it moved from Undead to Dark.

Dude, you are sssooooo right! I'm glad someone else noticed that too. Or how about Slobber Trap? Nothing about a Rocky hided dog thing even REMOTELY suggests Water Element. but there you have it, he's it! Looks like the guys were just changing or throwing elements on some of these villians to get the game out ASAP!

That's my point...if you have to ponder why a character is in a given element...then it was a bad character design choice...OR...these guys realized late in the game that they would align them by element...which may account for some of the lopsided character counts.
