Hi all - joined the forum to try and help my 9 year old Daughter finally get to play on this game, which Santa brought her :-)

She has the tablet version, and she has a Samsung GT- P3100 tablet (Android Ver 4.1.1) - Mum also has a tablet, Samsung GT- P5110 (Android Ver 4.2.2)

I'm struggling to download the App from either Amazon or Google Play, from either the correct one isnt being picked up or it is, but its not compatible. So Im starting to think Santa got this one wrong and this game isnt playable on either of our tablets.

This is from Skylanders web site regarding compatability:
Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014), Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, 10.1, 12.2, Galaxy Tab S: 8.4, 10.5 - Android® 4.4 or higher

Is there an expert on board who can help confirm either way please?

Thanks,

It states that it has to be And 4.4 or higher so no unfortunately they won't work on either tablet

...And this is why folks just use consoles....hardware and software version fiasco like this. You have to adhere to the software and hardware requirements, just like in the old days when you bought software for your PC. Are you guys looking at upgrading to one of the supported tablets/software OS soon? If so, keep it...otherwise you need to return this and buy it for a supported console.

Cheers peeps, sadly confirming my fears :-(

Would a software upgrade be a costly thing?

If you wanted to upgrade the hardware, a nintendo Wii is very cheap now, about $20 used on ebay or a Wii U new for about $199 , you can always return the tablet starter pack and swap it for a console one. And plus if you did get a Wii U you're guaranteed to get at least another 5 years worth of games out of it.

Updating Android is typically not a costly thing but more a question of whether your device supports upgrading it any higher / high enough. If you ended up needing to get a new device that supports 4.4+ of Android, then yes, that would be costly.

Edit: I'm looking into it a little bit right now, and it looks like you can update either one (P3100 or P5110) to 4.4, but not through Samsung software. You would need to use a custom ROM, but yes, they are available for those two devices you have. The custom ROM stuff can get pretty technical - moreso than anything I've done with a phone or tablet, but here are some video guides I found by just looking real quick:
