I have already been to both Targets, Wal-Marts, and Toys R Us in in my town and nobody has any of the wave 3 figures even though they are in the ad for Wal-Mart.

I had them check in the back rooms and there was nothing.

I had them check their computers too and there isn't anything listed for release until January.

I talked with my buddy at GameStop yesterday and he also said there's nothing till January.

I hope they're all wrong.

This waiting SUCKS!!!

Activision and Toys for Bob... next year PLEASE give us the option of buying all the characters(in one box) when the new game comes out!!! I don't care how big the box is.

I would argue "the chase" is more fun than playing these guys. In fact for me, the anticipation is better than the delivery on the flip side. Also, to buy it all in one big box at launch...not going to happen. They can't ramp up production to that level, and it's a bit much for anyone to swallow in one transaction.

Also Wave 3 is post Christmas in USA at best. You "may" find TRU pulls a rabbit out its hat and have one day of VERY LIMITED WAVE 3 stock, but no idea if or when.

Last year TRU got Wave 3 right before Christmas, so I'd expect sometime either later this week or next week they would if it's going to happen, but don't waste your gas going to any other retailer right now.

As for a giant box of everything for the game, I doubt they'll ever do that simply from a standpoint of the astronomical price. There would be very few takers. Imagine every trap master, core, mini and DLC pack all being bought at once? They'd have to announce it a whole year prior just for people to slowly pay off that sort of a box at a place like Gamestop, and that would be for a company that doesn't like to announce things.

ok why do people think there's going to be a wave 3 right now? most retailers at most will be clearing out stocks of wave 2 and winterfest lob star for now due to sales, etc and in most cases just replenishing that before anything else sees the light of day. i would imagine for this time you'd probably see something after christmas or in january to keep the buzz going for the game so people have a reason to pick up more.

Maybe Toys R us would be the first to get wave 3 as stated in a post above like the year before but yeah you're not going to see more yet from others other then eon's elite at gamestop and the winterfests surfacing

I beg to differ.

They've had 4 years to know this is THE game for Christmas. They know the demand. They could easily ramp up production.

I, for one, can handle the large transaction for Skylanders. All year, I save my hard earned cash for the fall release.

Many people I've talked to want a "box collection" so they don't have to do the "Skylander Shuffle" all year.

The practice of staggered release is a bunch of hooey! Especially since A LOT of content isn't accessible in Trap Team because there's no Magic Trap Master yet or the Light/Dark Elements realeased yet.

Actually, some other topic was talking about it (predicting wave 3- phase 2 release date)
I forgot who was talking about it, but I believe it was on one of the dates I guessed......12/21.
There's also talk that the light/dark elements are forth coming.
On myskylanders.de, there are images of the packaging as well as each item. Usually when a packaged item for this franchise is revealed, that means they are coming soon.
Trust me, I've been searching each and every day. Other than receiving High Five in the mail from the current contest, no sightings of the other figures or traps.

it maybe sensible but wave3 is out right now at my local toy'r us i got msg from my friend that was there not long ago... it looks like its more faster releases of the waves than earlier years. we may be done in march if they keep up this. i see it as a good thing the faster we get the figures the better smilie

Nobody ever said Wave 3 would be out by now. People are just assuming/hoping based off a Walmart ad that showed Trail Bazer.

With that said, I expect stuff to pop up at Toys R Us sometime this week. I'll head over there on Wednesday probably.

going by past years wave 3's always lingered close to or around christmas and in most cases AFTER so i don't see why people are getting ahead of themselves on it. take it from someone who's been around since SSA on that. usually there's that toy show or whatever sometime in the first part of the year and that usually goes into around the time of a 3rd wave in every store.

i don't see as many waves for this game and most likely the light and dark elements will hit stores for pre order around jan-feb is my guess in the us due to a kick start for sales. the end of the year always has the shelves trying to be cleared of current stock and acti knows this so the only store that actually gets them in early enough is tru due to this.

that's happened in the past and in most cases walmart and target don't get new figs until after christmas due in most not wanting to put them out during sales they have on current figures to keep people coming in. i've always seen january as the time for the new stuff that isn't related to gamestop or tru.

But if the machines are already running 24 hours a day, how can they? (Short of buying a new expensive manufacturing machine which is only needed for limited peak times and would not be justified on a cost/benefit analysis).

No, for the past two years Wave 3 started right before Christmas at TRU. They had a Hot Toy Alert both of the past two years - for Giants Lightcore Shroomboom came out on 12/20 and Wave 3 singles (S2 Prism Break, Lightning Rod, Eruptor and Stealth Elf) were street dated the next day. Last year we got Dune Bug, Smolderdash, etc. on the Sunday right before Christmas.

Now, we did get the rest of it right after - Swappers the week after/Lightcores and Adventure/Battle Packs mid January for Swap Force, Giants and Hot Dog mid January for Giants and Double Trouble/Cynder mid January for SSA. It really has no correlation with any shows.

If you are going to throw down the "take it from a guy that's been doing this forever", you probably want to be accurate.

I have a pretty good feeling we will probably be seeing a street dated TRU HTA thing in the next week for at least something for Wave 3. It won't just "show up", it will likely be register locked for whatever day it is on. They pay for these "Exclusive" right before Christmas deals, after all. TRU has a pretty good thing going, and they have been predictable as clockwork.

Count yourself lucky. Aus are still waiting for the reposes/core characters of wave 2 and MoM and we just get extra Traps and variants early (as mid-wave filler).

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if we need to wait until March or April for Light/Dark stuff.

I'm not saying this isn't worth criticism, buy you're saying this like you have some of the worst Skylander release schedules, which isn't the case.

I wouldn't say that stores trying to get rid of stock is a problem with getting wave 3. Stores in my area are about bare. Even TRU, which normally has tons of Skylanders and usually the best place to find what you're looking for (even if you have to pay the higher price), is low in stock. It's actually sad to go in with the huge display in the front and the entire aisle in the back. Most pegs only have 1 or 2 Skylanders hanging on them and they're mostly Head Rush. I went in, yesterday, to check on the 2 for $22 sale and they were wiped out. Even the cases the top shelf (which is normally stacked to the ceiling with more cases) were practically empty. All I could find up there were a few cases of W2 traps and maybe one or two W2.5 cases. No Trap Masters to be found anywhere. I'm hoping they get more in before the sale ends. I might just go to Walmart to see if they can PM the 2 for $22, especially since the one near work actually has Wildfire (which has become impossible to find) and Winterfest Lob Star.

If wave 3 isn't released by christmas, it's a missed opportunity as Nintendo is going to release their wave 2 amiibos on the 19th for christmas, so much less money for them. And stores are already selling wave 2 amiibos... as I already got mine (half of wave 2)...

I don't know that it is a missed opportunity...a lot of kids are getting the game for Christmas and have no idea what figures they want yet. Once those kids start playing and watching the wow pow videos, I think there is a whole separate group that is going to start looking for figures. That is one of the reasons I think Activision has in the past released Waves 1 and 2 before Christmas, and then Waves 3 and 4 (with rereleases of Wave 1 and 2 figures) after Christmas.

I have a small game store, and I have yet to see a single shipment of Wave 3 figures. That tells me that Activision is not yet shipping them in the US, and it only doing small teaser pre-releases to the major retailers. Generally, once a wave oficially starts, Activision starts shipping the given wave figures to everyone. Also, keep in mind that Activision sometime staggers a Wave's release, and will start shipping one part of a wave (e.g. single core figures) before they start shipping another (like Trap Masters). Last year with either Wave 3 or 4, they started shipping core figures several weeks before they started shipping the Swap Force ones.

That said, I could see Activision start shipping Wave 3 stock any day. I seem to recall that last year it was just after Christmas that I saw my first Wave 3 Swap Force figures.

Correct. If USA doesn't see anything BEFORE Christmas, I have a safe feeling they'll start popping up immediately after, in staggered fashion until Amazon and the rest catch up in the first or second week of Jan.

Not sure who this is for, but I'm well in tune with Activision's delayed schedule in other countries, and have tried to be sensitive to that as some of the best contributors here aren't from the US. I'm simply chiming in on Wave 3/USA tendencies.

Yeah, people around here tend to forget that a many (if not a majority) of Skylanders fans have not even played the game yet. They aren't people that go from store to store when someone reports finding one. And while they might be telling their parents "I want Blastermind" they are just as likely to be saying "I want Short Cut" in which case Wave 3 being out isn't going to help them, so rushing out waves isn't the best idea when they could soak up some of that great post Christmas money and gift cards.

People that think it is such a mistake for them to rush out Wave 3 in November or early December just don't understand they aren't the target audience. They appreciate your business, but you aren't the ones driving their marketing.

I understand a lot haven't played it yet and will after Christmas and can the get the ones they like, but there is also the group that has played it before and have kids that want certain ones and ask for them for Christmas, so that the group that is missing out and has a hard time with explaining why they cant get it for Christmas. I understand the whole kids need to learn to be patient and all that as mine are both old enough to know that just cause they want something for Christmas doesn't mean they are gonna get it. I'm just saying it won't hurt Activision to release wave three before Christmas. by doing that they are hitting both groups and the ones that have played it get the ones they want for Christmas and the ones that are just learning about it can go get them right after Christmas. I myself do Gift cards for kids strictly for this reason. they know now that they come out throughout the year and they use the money on the gift card for the ones they want, but I had to explain to my son last year that even though he saw videos and pictures of new ones in the commercial they were showing that he couldn't get it for Christmas. I think if they don't want to release them all at once or within a couple months of the game release they shouldn't show them in videos and commercials before Christmas. Just leads to kids asking for them because they have seen them and like what they saw. That would solve the problem. If they don't see them then they cant ask for them.

The "oh no, kids can't get the ones they want for Christmas!" argument is silly. What if the kids want Short Cut? Rocky Roll? Enigma? Wave 3 could have hit two weeks ago and that still isn't going to happen. They have seen them too. There are figures that will not be out until April or so, kids might put them on their Christmas list too. If Wave 3 came out in November, we would have the exact same people complaining that Wave 4 isn't out yet right now - then if that came out, they'd want Wave 5.

Let's face it, their are a TON of Trap Team figures out now. Parents and kids have loads to choose from. Saying that the "poor kids" might be disappointed is just misdirection for "I want more figures right now", and no amount of dressing it up in "thinking of the kids" is going to change that.

Wave 3 will be fully here in a month, with some probably right before the holiday. They know what they are doing. The only people that are "deprived" by their release plan and the hardcore collectors that want to check things off their list as soon as they can. And those people aren't the core of the target audience.
