I have been listening to these wonderful songs from Swiss band Lunatica.
Lunatica makes atmospheric symphonic metal that touches basic human feelings with its keyboard melodies and simple ways of constructing melodies and rhythms. To me this band is all about emotion and feeling of beautiful despair which will be made right by freedom, love and peace. These songs are amazing and I recommend them to all of you!

Africa - Toto
I've been listening to pop music from the past few decades. From the 60s to 80s, the music is fantastic. The 90s starts to head downhill with still some good pieces, the 00s is falling apart rapidly, and now it's crashed and burned. I know so many have heard this before and many of you may not agree, but popular music in the past was significantly better than today. I know some good songs are still being made, but you can't find them in mainstream music. |

I must say, even with a risk of sounding old and bitter git, that I agree with your opinion Spyro Fanatic. This problem is visible especially in mainstream music. And there are two main points that I have figured out why modern mainstream music is not that attractive than it was back at the days. The first one is the sounds. I do not know what they do in modern mixing processes but to me modern mainstream music lacks of humane warmth. Every sound that is created for modern songs sounds, empty, metallic, cold and hollow to me. This creates anemic end result which is far from enjoyable listening experience. The other point is that this modern social media, computerization revolution of popular music. It seems that artists and their songs lack of certain will and passion for longevity in their products. Music seems to be highly disposable, topics of the mainstream songs are cheap populism and image has become more important than the art itself. This creates these one-hit, one-album or multi-million-click wonders that are more about being something popular and cool rather than being about the meaning and substance which should empower art and the artists themselves. This Toto song sounded pretty good to me. I probably should check out more of their production. I am listening something way different than popular music genres right now and have indulged myself in Gregorian chant choir music. Here is Gregorian chant Dies Irae.

I am most terribly sorry and utterly ashamed that I have done double post in this topic. For that I apologize , since forum rules endorse more on editing rather than double-posting one’s own points etc. But I think that in this topic double post is more rational than editing so forgive me If you are merciful enough!
Dragonhammer is a great progressive power metal unit from Italy lead by talented singer-guitarist Max Aguzzi. Their new album is very hypothetically political and trys to encourage us all to do our own contributions for the positive fate of our world. This is IMO the best song from their new album The X Periment released last year. BTW I also posted this here because I do not want a good music thread to die! Music is the most universal art and please keep spreading its message for the sake of humanity!

I remember these three songs dominate the European dance charts in the early 2000 - 2010! These 3 song are the greatest! I like to dance to them, like to sing to them and like to improvise on them with my electric guitar solo playing!

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, Yuletide carols being sung by a choir, And folks dressed up like Eskimos. Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe, Help to make the season bright, Tiny tots with their eyes all a-glow, Will find it hard to sleep tonight. They know that Santa's on his way He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh, And ev'ry mother's child is gonna spy, To see if reindeer really know how to fly. And so I'm offering this simple phrase, To kids from one to ninety-two, Although it's been said Many times, Many ways Merry Christmas to you. It was this week that I rediscovered my first favourite band’s Nightwish’s music. Nightwish are a Finnish symphonic metal band founded in 1996 in Kitee, Finland. Band’s leading influence and main driving force is the keyboard player and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen and the band is considered to be one of the cornerstones in its own genre. This song I posted here is called Astral Romance and it is from their debut album Angels Fall First (1997). I consider this song to be my favourite from the band since it has unique and raw beauty in it which really sticks to one’s own mind. I must say that my favourite time of Nightwish was their first four albums. Mainly for the reason I think that their music was then closest to European symphonic power metal and all instruments worked together in harmony and the sounds were mixed warmer and better.
