Kmart will be gone by 2016. They haven't revamped their image at all since Sears entered the picture & their stores all look like dumps. Even my local JC Penney revamped their inside and it looks welcoming now. You think Kmart would at least be profitable around the holidays, but why enter their store for a video game if a majority of their games are years old with some even being over a decade old? They're the opposite of cutting edge...nothing new...just old technology. The store is a relic from the past & I don't see any future successful efforts on turning it around.

I think this is exactly one of the reasons why Kmart is failing. Their stores are all stuck in the 80's/90's, and they've done little or no remodeling to them in years. They do look like dumps: dirty, worn out, etc. Maybe if they actually spent money on making their stores nicer and more up-to-date, rather than "hip" and "trendy" commercials to make them still seem relevant, people would actually shop there again. Look at Walmart and Target, they're remodeling their stores, opening new ones, and people are shopping there. Kmart doesn't care though, and is just letting its stores sit until the lease runs out. If they keep closing stores at this rate, they'll eventually cease to exist altogether.

Guess the Sears buyout didn't work as planned or whatever they did. I'd say that unless your store has TT stuff in, they likely wont be getting it ever.

Sears is going out of business, too, and has been hurting for a long time. Sears was a main store in my local mall (which, in itself, has been there as long as I can remember). It was the first store built there and the mall just built up around it. It went out of business after Christmas, last year. Even 20 years ago, we made fun of Sears as it only being useful to get from one side of the mall to the other (since it was in the middle of the mall and you had to go through it to get to the other side). They've now figured that out and completely turned the old Sears into a walk through wing with lots of other stores. No one misses Sears at all smilie

I heard about Sears closing stores too, but they seem to be doing fine in my area; at least better than Kmart has been. :/ Most of the problems I see with Kmart, I don't really see with Sears.
