Can someone please tell me what it is about Michael Bay films that are so awful? Because honestly, nearly every movie of his that I've seen, I've enjoyed. I feel like half the people who hate on him are just doing it because it's like a thing now.

As for the new Transformers movie, I still haven't seen it, but I've been wanting to.

The film should be nominated for Best Visual Effects at the very least. Say what you want about everything else but the CGI and effects in the film are great.

And this seems to just be them allowing themselves to be considered for the awards. Of course they won't be nominated for most of them but there's no real harm in letting the Academy know that they're interested in being considered. It's not like they were actually nominated yet.

Besides Best Picture and other big awards are already locked in by Boyhood.

Avengers is a Michel Bay stereotype movie.

Minus as many explosions, plot holes, lazy editing, and so on.

For those defending this movie or hating on it: (content warning: some objectionable content around-ish 1:35-2:14 and language throughout)

Aren't all of these in The Avengers?

Avengers also has a lot more respect for the source material than the Transformers films do. I like both film franchises but it's pretty clear that Bay doesn't really like Transformers and tries to downplay them in their own movies, or give them new identities. Avengers stays close to character, gives them their original costumes (Hawkeye excluded), and while having a predictable story also builds up to these superheroes teaming up.

Avengers shows their heroes loud and proud and focuses almost entirely on them. Transformers is afraid if not even ashamed of theirs and points the camera instead to one note characters.

Admit it, not as much as in Bay's. His movies also have way more fanservice (which I find annoying at best).

I never cared for the movies in the least. I did love the series Transformers Prime though, one of the only decent "children's" shows to actually get a full run instead of getting cancelled.
