So Street Fighter V is coming to PS4 and PC but not Xbox One. Though I prefer Playstation over Xbox, it is really a dick move from Sony to buy a competitive edge, however let's not forget who's making and publishing Street Fighter V... Capcom: Always releasing hyped-up games that will sell like crazy before dumping it for an updated version just like those yearly EA games.
1991-1994: Street Fighter II -> Street Fighter II: Championship Edition/Street Fighter II Turbo -> Super Street Fighter II -> Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
2008-2015: Street Fighter IV -> Super Street Fighter IV -> Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition -> Ultra Street Fighter IV.
The vanilla-version of Street Fighter V is a permanent PS4-exclusive but no one has said anything about Super Street Fighter V being the same, which will be multi-platform and you'll be forced to buy the Super Edition just to keep playing the game online.
Capcom gleefully took the money Sony threw at them but Capcom will use their loophole to rake in more mullah under Sony's nose.

I fail to see the "dick move". Its business. This is hardly the first game to have some sort of console exclusive. Capcom has been dancing the edge of bankruptcy for the last couple years. If someone wants to throw money their way I doubt Capcom is going to turn it away. As said, when some update edition comes along we could see the exclusive rights dropped. Timed exclusives arent new either. Street Fighter isnt a game series thats going to bank Sony's bank account getting the exclusive rights for a year or so. Its a small but highly loyal fanbase of hardcore fans. They'll snatch up the game on release. Sony will take their cut and be content.
The bigger worry should be all the fans and making sure Capcom doesnt try and sucker all of us with DLC already on the disc. |

It's not confirmed that SFV will be a permanent PS4 exclusive. Most people speculate it's just a timed exclusive and that it will release for X1 at least within a year after its PS4/PC release. Quote: GothamLord
It's still kind of a dick move since you're taking a legendary multiplatform franchise like Street Fighter and forcing people to buy a specific system if they want to play it (fighting games are not a big thing on PC so it's almost moot there). People threw a massive hissyfit when the new Tomb Raider was announced to be an X1 exclusive. Why aren't that many people doing the same here? Because it's Sony and Sony can do no wrong? Street Fighter as a series has profited in part for being a multiplatform release. I feel as though Capcom would earn more if SF was multiplatform than if they gave console exclusivity rights because they were paid (unless that undisclosed sum is gigantic). Street Fighter is popular but I honestly don't think X1 players are going to run out and buy a PS4 just so they can play. Just like how all those angry PS4 and PC gamers weren't/aren't going to be buying an X1 for the new Tomb Raider. |

People likely arent complaining because they all expect it to be nothing more than a timed exclusive. We've been down that road before. Getting our panties in a twist isnt going to amount to anything.
On the other side of the coin, this could actually be Microsoft's own fault. Capcom wants this game to be cross-platform playable. Microsoft is a bully about their online policies. They could have grumbled about having to have something engined to adapt to being able to play with Sony's Playstation as well. Its the same reason there isnt a version of Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox consoles. Microsoft will not allow Xbox gamers to share the same space as PS4 and PC players. Given Capcom's financial problems. This game might only exist because of Sony's backing. A yeah ago Yoshi Ono tweeted that he did not have the R&D budget to develop another SF game. Before Sony is made out to be the badguy, take a step back and look at the whole situation. |

Except that even when Tomb Raider was announced to be a timed exclusive, people continued to complain about it as if it was still announced to be permanently exclusive. Not many people are batting an eye at this except for the handful of people saying "well that sucks it's probably timed". At this rate I'm ready to chalk it up as one big anti-MS circlejerk that started when X1 was announced with all those bad features and has continued long after they removed them. I will await to hear the full story and why we are where we are now (SFV isn't even officially confirmed anyway). But right now I don't like this whole idea and I feel as though it was Sony buying console exclusivity rights in the same way Microsoft did for Tomb Raider. Maybe you're right and Sony simply helped them fund the game (a la Nintendo and Bayonetta 2), while Microsoft was being stubborn. But that leaves the question as to why the game would also be coming to PC. I feel like if Sony played a significant role in funding the game they would be more insistent on it being PS4 exclusive. EDIT: Turns out the game has officially been announced now. My mistake. |

Sony and Microsoft dont worry about PC all that much. Despite all the "PC master race" rumbling you'll hear online, the major console boys dont give a flying fig about PC when it comes to rights. Its been said by reps from all three before at E3 and other cons. Capcom will probably take all the PC sales as profit for themselves, while Sony gets their cut on the PS4 sales. Fighters need wide group of players to survive. If there isnt competitive players the series dies. I'm not surprised by Capcom wanting to have it on as console and PC platforms. We could see the PC version done through Sony Online, which would still keep Sony's hands in the cookie jar. Its really still too early to do anything other than speculate.
Still say the situation looks like Sony helping fund things, and Microsoft being asinine about cross platforms, so they just decided to not play in the sandbox. Once more information starts rolling out we can all make more educated guesses. |

Sony is assisting in development and funds. Street Fighter V (including past vanilla) will always be console exclusive to PS4.

It's likely, though I'm not really sure if the PC version will sell as much as an X1 version would've. Fighting games on PC are more of a niche than they are on consoles. SFV will sell (I'm fairly certain USFIV is one of the few decently popular ones on PC), but probably not enough to where the sales lost from X1 players will be recovered. Quote: zer0dch
That's very unfortunate and I fail to see why people aren't making a fuss about this. People screamed their heads off about Tomb Raider even after it was announced as a timed exclusive. Meanwhile with this people will probably just claim it to be a genius move by Sony with nothing wrong. |

Hey CAV, I think Sony IS doing wrong here. Not just now but also with exclusive DLC on their consoles with Watch Dogs and Destiny.
I'm not giving either Capcom or Square-Enix the benefit of the doubt as they blow their money all the time, so I have no sympathy for either company. Capcom said they had 140 million left and blew 40 million of it on the mobile market and failed. Meanwhile with Square-Enix; They're spending more money on brand game engines for demonstrations before tossing them aside as oppose to making actual games with them. Square-Enix wants their own engine? Just use one and one alone. Make the Crystal Engines universal like the Unreal Engine or just license the engine for all their games, including FFXIII and Tomb Raider. This isn't like how Bayonetta 2 was Wii U-exclusive. PlatinumGames is a development studio for niche games, not a AAA publisher.

^I didn't specifically mean you. Sorry about that.
I referred to the general gaming public. They exploded about Microsoft and Tomb Raider but turned a blind eye to Destiny being a PS4 exclusive in Japan and now this. |

The game would not have existed with out the development assistance from Sony.
Microsoft moneyhatted Tomb Raider's exclusivity, that is why people are pissed with Microsoft. |

So what you're saying is that the exclusivity is a product of Capcom having poor financial and budgeting skills to where they could hardly afford to make a new installment for one of their flagship franchises? So who should we be more disappointed/peeved at? Sony or Capcom? |

You hit the nail right in the head! I'm sure Capcom will likely sell the Megaman IP (Definitely should go to Nintendo.) just have enough money to make Resident Evil 7 as a GTA-clone and as bloated as the last big mess.

Not sure why people keep claiming what Sony is doing is wrong. There wouldnt be a SFV without Sony here. This isnt the same as Tomb Raider. That game was getting made no matter what. Its Bayonetta 2 all over again. It only happen because of Nintendo helping foot the bill. So by saying Sony is doing something wrong, is basically saying they should have just let the franchise flounder and die as Capcom couldnt have done this on their own.
If anything we should be more mad at Capcom because they have pissed away most their money on stupid stuff and misused multi-IPs that could have kept them afloat for decades. They shouldnt even be in this hole. |

I thought I read rumors before but I forgot where and when but knowing Capcom, they're afraid of their own franchise and will go out of their way to appeal to EVERYONE like with 6, as well as making it look as AAA as AAA can get.
