if you guys did not here, sadly there was another cop shooing. a person called 911 saying that there was a kid who might have a gun. he also told 911 that the gun is most likely fake . when cops got there, they shot 12 year old Tamir Rice with in under 2 seconds being on the scene
and after they shot him, they waited 4 minutes to preform CPR on him
here is the video footage, but view discretion is advised

so what do you think about this?

The kid pointed his gun at the cops. It's both their faults.

I read about that. Apparently the person who called 911 said that the gun probably wasn't real, but the police officers weren't told that.
Sure, that doesn't exactly make it OK to shoot a 12-year-old kid, but it wasn't like the cops went there with the idea of shooting him on sight.

Sad to say, but mistakes happen. I just personally hate it when the media turns news like these into wild speculation.

No he didn't. The gun was fake and the officer should not have shot him.

When the cops pulled up the kid pulled up his fake gun and walked towards the car. The cops didn't know that the gun was fake as said by Samius, so the cop reacted and shoot the kid. Guaranteed I'm not sure if the toy gun had an orange safety tip but if some stranger randomly pulled a gun at you what would you do. The cops however shot the kid instead of forcing him to surrender which was idiotic of them but the kid held a gun up which could have freaked him out and caused him to finger the trigger. The accident is both their faults honestly. You're going with the aftermath of this story that includes background information and makes the cops look like idiots for your statement when the cops didn't know that the gun was fake.

I wonder if people are going to start thinking that cops are now the bad guys. With the Ferguson issue and these other cop stories it's starting to seem that way. They should go to Honduras for awhile, they'll be begging to have our cops back.

this is what i think..

1) when the cops got a call that a person has a gun( the dispatcher did not tell the cops that it might be fake or not), why did the cops pull up so closely to the kid. the cops could have stop there car 50+ feet away and told the kid to freeze and drop the gun.

2) they did not perform CPR on the kid in till 4 minutes after his was shot. there is no excuses to let a 12 year old bleed to death, while they do nothing.

3) Orange caps on toy guns have a flaw. when the kid pulls out the gun from his pocket, the last part to come out of a kids pocket, is the tip of the gun(where the Orange part usually is)

4) cops shot him with in under 2 seconds........

5) how did the orange cap come off, the toy makers really need to superglue the ornge caps so a kid had a harder time getting it off.

6) im just going to put this out here

I don't pay attention to stuff like this TBH. The news does too much to sway the general public into whatever direction brings in more money, so if making the police officer look like a coldhearted bastard makes them more money, they'll do just that.

I'm not familiar with how police officers do their work and all that stuff, but the officer should have at least tried to have the kid surrender. Then again, it's easy to be brave when it's someone else's problem.

I always felt news articles are very exaggerated than the problem itself.

I'm not doing that at all. I'm defending a child who was judged and shot all too quickly. I don't need to made you look like an asshole; you're doing a pretty fine job of it yourself. The kid didn't know what wa happening cause his gun was fake, he was probably confused and scared, and your saying it was partly his fault?

Is it my fault that I yelled "fire" at movie theater because I thought there was a fire and got scared? Also did the police know what was happening because they thought the gun was real and didn't hear that it was fake?

Nobody would die from that mistake. All I'm saying is, they could have handled the situation much better.

Aran why is every topic you make nowadays about bad cops doing bad things, as if in determination to portray every officer as evil?

The orange tip was supposedly removed. Without it, it looked like a legitimate firearm capable of killing.

I'm fairly ignorant of the situation here and exactly what happened (e.g. if it was an airsoft gun or an actual toy) but while cops definitely need to be trained to at the very least go for non-lethal shots to tranquilize a suspect, the orange tip being removed can make it appear as a real gun. If you go online and look at airsoft guns they look pretty close to real weapons, save for that orange tip. It's why it's illegal to remove that tip, or make/ship them without it. And if it looked like a real weapon and he's waving it around (or points it at police), it's in their protocol to do something about it. It's a shame they fired so quickly though.

It's tragic what happened here, and I do think that he pointed the gun unintentionally and out of panic. But I do wonder why he removed the tip.

well if it actually looked like a real gun and the kid pointed it at them.... not the cops' fault.

but if they were gonna shoot him anyway they shouldve used like a tazer or something not a bullet
