I think the Trap Masters are overpriced? Are they?

of course they are overpriced, but that is why I waited for the Thanksgiving deals this past week. Got some from Wal-Mart for 9 bucks each.

Yeah, I just now realized trap masters are the same price as swappers(only at some places). I think it is so stupid. Trap Masters have nothing unique about them. There just a little bigger then cores.

I agree about them being overpriced. I only bit with the $10 sales at Target and the $9 Amazon lightning deals to get them (and am still missing some). Now that they've set the $15 or more price point for special guys ever since Giants, it's a sure bet to assume the next game will have some unremarkable and overpriced characters as well. Giants were fine with one giant from each element, but those money-grubbing folks at Activision aren't going to back down from the 2 of each element $15+ figure trend we've been seeing causing overkill with collectors and parents alike until the inevitable death of the franchise. I think the overkill of characters is really starting to hit fans of the franchise with Trap Team. Where does one draw the line and think it's too much...150+ registered Skylanders/items in the game is where I'm at, but I'm sure many "gotta have them all" true fans have closer to 200 (or maybe even more). My biggest gripe is that I find most of the new characters bland and unoriginal after finding most (if not all) of the Swap Force swappers and cores quite amazing with creative and original attack moves.

They're the equivalent, the gimmick of the game, even if it's just to open roadblocks. They're definately more unique than Swappers design wise tho,excluding two or three.

Gotta hand it to you there, those LED's are probably worth 10 bucks themselves...

they are about half the price of similar size, weight and quality action figures or toys in the shops around here, and a couple dollars cheaper than DI figures or Amiibo, so i'm fine with their price.

it would be nice if they cost less, though i can say the same about rent, electricity, gas, water, food, petrol, school fees and anything else that needs paying for.

I too waited for the inevitable Black Friday sale and have to say, it was extremely smart. I used the Target Red card and a coupon my buddy gave me (Additional 5% off purchase) and ended up getting the game for $33.50 and Wallop for $9. Much better than running out release day

I bought the tablet version for 30$ PS3 version for 37$ and 4 trap masters for 9$ a piece. We aren't buying any cores.

I think the price point would be more acceptable if they had some extra feature. With no LCs (except maybe the Light/Dark guys?) they should have stuck them in there as the extra feature. They're about the same size as Swappers, but they lack the swapping ability that those figures had, and I don't believe they're quite as tall as Giants (except maybe Krypt)

The day we say no, they won't lower the prices...they will bail on the franchise after the cash cow is milked dry...much like they did with the Guitar Hero series.

I'd be fine with it if they at least had extra tech like lightcore. Their toy doesn't have the same innovation that the pvevious premium-priced ones had.

I don't think we'll ever get a break from Activision, other then the sales at stores, etc. It'd be nice of them to come out with a game that used all the characters from previous games......but they wont. Now they added 2 more elements. ...mo money...mo money. ... from us. I love the game and the characters, but buy the time they release all of them we've pretty much played it out. I'm probably going to sit the next one out...at least for preorder.

It's not just Activision. I collect oodles of plastics, and everybody's prices have gone up.

I was thinking more along the lines of "Pick Pocket Lob Star", and then he runs to the ATM to send the funds to Activision

I think the better question is: who thinks their markup is justified and why? Figure-wise, they're basically Giants without LightCore stuff. Or more accurately, large Core figures.
We've had a very similar team of Skylanders, so it's not really forgivable by coolness factor, either- having a set of big figures doesn't seem that cool when we already had Giants.

Did the extra plastic warrant the markup? Even if it did, it doesn't feel justified purely from a consumer standpoint. You get nothing special except access to Gates that could previously be unlocked by Cores, and are obviously locked off from them now now so that anyone wanting 100% is forced to buy more expensive characters.

That's my thinking. The double-sided plastic "bubble" is sturdier than the ones previously used, which isn't a bad thing if you collect them since you don't have to worry about the backs coming unglued.
