I'm dead serius when I say this. I will call Gamestops corporate and yell at them until they conced and give me what I ordered if this is true.

Wow, that was a rollercoaster ride! Thanks to the OP for trying to hook us all up. I pulled the trigger after reading the first post. Also, thank you to skylandsfan for clarifying that GS messed up. I was able to cancel my order before GS processed it.

My son found the listing this morning and really anxious to get this. By the time, I found out about it, the listing was unavailable. Fortunate for me since I missed out and then I see this in the forum.

I thought GITD sonic boom was a Walmart exclusive? Remember the ad, Black Friday 2012..

These are for the pre-owned. That's why it being glitter seemed unlikely. I'm sure there are a lot of pre-owned GITD Sonic Booms lying around. I saw an entire end cap of them at one Walmart one time. They weren't hard to find.

Yeah GitD Sonic Boom is/was incredibly common. I remember buying 6 or 7 of them as birthday party favors for my son's Skylanders themed party a good three months after they came out. And I still didn't put a dent in the supply at that store. They were a big hit.

In the picture it looks like Glitter not GITD variant. I was upset when I couldn't order one when I first clicked on the link of this thread. Then after I read the rest of this thread I'm glad I wasn't able to.... though for those who did it seems like they have a legitimate concern with corporate and false advertising on their part.

I was all ready to drive to the store to get one lol. hahaha

I don't even see how they would know the difference, since they have the same numbers on bottom.. GS isn't that hip or suave when it comes to skylanders..

They don't know the difference, that's why they have a picture of Glitter Sonic Boom and are sending GitD Sonic Boom instead. There was no way this was ever real, they would never have enough Glitter Sonic Boom to even list it on their site. If they did have the correct figure it would be in a high priced bundle like they've done in the past.

The person who was in charge of pricing the regular used figures knew how to mark up the rarer figures. The web guy who doesn't know Disney Infinity from Skylanders who was trying to match up used figures with existing old listings on the website simply messed up and linked the glow in the dark version (which never existed on GameStop.com since the product when sold new was a Walmart exclusive) to the glitter listing. I can't believe this thread has so many replies. It's a simple mixup...move on. I saw this thread when it was first started and right away knew the odds were slim to none that these were glitter, so didn't even bother placing an order. Those pictures linked of the glow in the dark figures mostly likely from disappointed scalpers looking to make a quick buck should have clued everybody in. Here's to hoping this thread gets closed or dies...

^right on... But I knew better also, as the old saying goes....

Fingers crossed somehow gamestop gets their own store chase-variant and replaces the GiTD sonic booms with them.

Even if they are still in the package, if they were bought second hand then they are considered pre-owned. Walmart had the exclusive to sell them first hand straight from Activision. After they leave Walmart, they can be sold anywhere. I wouldn't doubt that there were a lot of people who bought them and kept them in the package because they were thought to be "rare" or "collectible", but weren't so much. They probably got dumped along with the opened ones.

It is also possible that Walmart dumped them to some liquidation/closeout company, but it seems unlikely that GameStop would go that route. They would probably have just ended up at Big Lots or somewhere. I did see Nitro Freeze Blades at a Bargain Hunt store. They buy closeouts from other stores and sells them at a discount. I forget how much they were. Around $9 or something like that.
