The posts here have seemed to have dropped precipitously since the release of the game.

Isn't it interesting that the fun is in fact finding and waiting for the promise of a new Skylanders game is actually more fun than the game itself?

Done with Skylanders after this. Switching to amibo very soon. Will finish trap team but amibo seems to be showing the promise the kid is looking for....especially with characters being able to constantly level up beyond 20, as well as individual traits....skylanders should have done this to ,at the minimum, retain value of series 1 figures. It's been a good run tho!

I think the hype makes it funner.

You're right that posts have dropped off. In my opinion it's the result of a lack of content, no online play, nothing to really talk about once you have brought the game and played through it a couple of times. The game unfortunately doesn't match the hype.

Normally we don't get the games and play them until Christmas. But this time we decided to switch to buying it as soon as it came out. Because of that I am not buying wave after wave of characters prior to playing the game. And now I am almost 100% finished the game and it's not even December!

I think it's a really good game. But there is not enough content to warrant buying a whole heap of figures.

I am just waiting until a magic trap master is released and then I will use my buy/return strategy to open the remaining gates and get the remaining items. I will also do the same when the dark/light characters come out and then I will be done.

YerMomsFaceHere (feels strange typing that) makes good point. There is no ongoing value in any of the characters. Even heroics are gone so no one Skylander is really any better than any other. There is no reason to buy them and own them forever. You can only upgrade them to a point. And let's face it most of us are expecting VV to nerf the Trap Team characters in the next game and buff their own. They could even be stupid enough to nerf the Elite's resulting in people throwing a couple of hundreds dollars down the drain. So why bother buying Bat Spin when there is nothing for Bat Spin to do by the time she comes out for this game, and chances are she will be useless in the next?

If new characters unlocked new game play then you might be able to justify buying them. If you could truly customise them, then you might consider buying them. But you can't. Plus they are not worth anything 12 months after you buy them, because the characters from the next game are coming out. Buying more than a handful of Skylanders characters is a stupid waste of money.

So as long as Activision's focus is on making and selling characters and not on extended or varied game play, then I can see the game forever being a 6-8 week wonder tops. Nobody is talking about it because there is just not enough to talk about.

Talk will pick up around wave 3. I think talk is down because this is the 4th game of a series that decided not to depart from what's been working (in general). There aren't putting much value in old landers because that doesn't sell new landers.

The game really isn't the best part anymore. For my family, we enjoy collecting the figures much more (and painting them). Since the 10 year old will be in middle school next year, I suspect peer pressure will drop his interest way down. My 8 year old was in more for the family time then anything else I think. So it seems likely that we won't be doing Skylanders 5.

I have no idea what I'm going to do with all this stuff.

Or maybe they no more spend that much time here, because they are too busy playing Trap Team.

Honestly, while this thing is partially true, with the previous titles, I cannot say the same for this game.
The wait was really fun, but the actual game is just 100 times better.
I knew what I was buying, when I bought it: I don't care that much for the online, I knew there weren't a rised level cap and a way to customize the Skylanders, and I really liked the trapping mechanic idea.

Maybe it's just me, but I personally don't buy new characters because they will give me bonuses or unlock new areas, but because I genuinely like them.
I cannot describe the emotions I feel, every time I go buy more Skylanders, the "fear" I experience, for not finding the ones I want, and the joy for when I take them in my hands.

Maybe there is some something wrong with me, since I'm almost 19, and I shouldn't feel so excited for a "kids game"... But this is it. I cannot avoid feeling an uncontainable happyness, when I go hunting more characters.

I'm really sorry to hear so many users here are quitting this franchise, or are simply don't liking it that much anymore, but for me, this series is just getting better and better.

Let's just wait for Skylanders 5 which will be the greatest Skylanders game ever for one reason. Vicarious Visions.

Since this game was so low and content and there's not much to talk about darkSpyro is boring. We could try talk about the previous three games but even they don't have much to talk about now even though they had more to talk about than Trap Team.

Yeah it's weird. I joined just before Trap Team came out, and I spent a lot more time here then than I do now. I think you guys are right about the hype being better than the game, but I also think part of it is that once I have the game, I'd rather play than talk about playing.

Dude, there hasn't been enough time for Trap Team to gain that many posts. It hasn't even been a year now to celebrate the aniverssary of the day I wet my pants at my grandmas house when seeing the trap team trailer I had waited for so long.

The trap gimmick is great, but the game doesn't deliver enough content. It took me MONTHS to finish SSF... and god knows how long to get through heroics back in the day... STT just feels unfinished.

I guess my point is that there are not many posts about the GAME ITSELF, simply getting the figures and the pre-release hype. All games have more or less this type of posting/cycle, but it seems VERY pronounced this time around.

You hit it right on the head GR!

It would be pretty boring if every figure was released in the beginning.

Yeah, compare a game that has been out for a few months with other ones relased at least a year ago.

And, for the very same reason, Skylanders 5 could easily be the "worst" one, so far.
It is really only a matter of points of view.

Mine too! And my favorite usually doesn't come out until like.. Wave 4 But not this year! Blades is my favorite and hes out in wave 1!

I have mentioned in posts elsewhere that my family divides the Skylanders evenly, everyone gets 1 from each element and an equal number of gimmicks vs. core. Takes a bit of advance figuring, but the kids build anticipation from the selection process as who knows which one is coming in what wave. Anyway, for all 3 games so far the ones determined to be " mine" are among the last to be released.
Wham Shell, Eyebrawl, Doom Stone, Punk Shock, all mine and makes Father's Day and a July birthday fun. Sorry everyone, Enigma is supposed to be mine.

My 3 most wanted are Blades, High Five and Echo.

Blades was on day 1 and he is tied with Camo for most time used and I've used Camo a lot since 2012. I'm really happy my 2nd favorite Skylander was a day 1.

I've been playing Skylanders from the beginning. I've even gotten my best friend into it and he thought it was a waste of money originally. Skylanders was first in the "toys to life" games. I had Disney Infinity 1 but traded it in because I just didn't care for it much. All Skylanders figures work with the next games. That rules in my book. I would like to see online player though. That would be cool. Skylanders will continue to make money and will keep on growing.

My main concern is that they should be EXPANDING the types of things we can do post story, not REDUCING it. I suspect the weight of supporting these skylosers is impacting the content we get in the game---which isn't fair for the newcomers or those that DON'T WANT support for 250+ skylanders.

Just a thought. Balance in the force there must be. Or seriously think how expanding content with expanding coding requirements/testing for all of these figures is going to happen, because it's VERY noticeable this time around. Dunno, maybe it's just the development team and Vicarious will come in guns blazing showing their true superiority. I love competition.

Well unlike SG/SSF, the "Everything We Know" was closed early because people were overly sensitive to negativity, so that might be why it seems more empty.

Probably because thry make it seem like there is loads there so we get excited.

I tend to think that sales wise Giants is still top dog, so those post counts look about right.

Done with trap team, don't have any interest in finishing the locked material. I certainly won't be buying the next game and any of the figures unless I see a major overhaul to the series.

On a side note, how lame to make multiple designs for each element trap. $$$$...

I wonder how much of that was due to the unexpected success of the original game which resulted - certainly in my neck of the woods - in a severe shortage of characters? I certainly got in a pre-ordered and purchased characters as soon as they came out to avoid needing to wait months for new shipments to come in.

Giants definitely RODE ON THE WAVE of SSA's success. No doubt in my mind.
