Does it scan in the box? I heard you have to open them if you want to use them.

There is a strip of metal in the box that blocks the NFC chip from working in the packaging, so yes, you have to take it out of the box for it to work.

They don't. They have an aluminum sticker that blocks the NFC Signal.
