Wouldn't it be much easier to have the Traps that contain variant villains like Riot Shield Shredder and Outlaw Brawl & Chain have some kind of fancy paint job on them. It's the best way to avoid confusion between the Traps with variant villains and the ones without them. Personally, I like the Legendary Traps and the Ultimate Kaos Trap. Here's how I think the Traps with variant villains should have:

Life Torch Trap (Riot Shield Shredder) - bronze fire parts
Water Log Holder Trap (Outlaw Brawl & Chain) - silver rims and eyes
Life Toucan Trap (Steamed Broccoli Guy) - golden wings, eyes, and beak

Speaking of variant villains, who else should have one? I was thinking of having Alt Deco versions of the following:

Pain-Yatta
Mab Lobs
Chomp Chest
Bad Juju
Grinnade
Chill Bill
Hood Sickle
Wolfgang

Shreadnaught, tussle sprout, and lob goblin all have a variant I think

i've painted the details on my riot and outlaw traps with a metallic silver nail polish, the flames on riot and the outer rims of the "log" and the eyes and sticky out rectangles on the "holder".

they don't look too bad, i'll be putting some pics over in custom thread when i can take a nice photo of them.

Tussle sprout: red hot

No one can provide proof right now without getting in trouble with Activision, but those are real Villain Variants.

I Think Should get a variant. "Silver Queen"

Is anyone else apart from me in the uk having any problems buying the keys/traps. I go into a game shop and ask have they got any trap keys they say what you talking about they only stock the figures. yet if i go into my local supermarket i ask them they stock them but only ones i have got..

My kids and I use the rubber bands from their jewelry looms to mark our skylanders. We only mark the traps that have variants so that they won't get lost in the shuffle.

Yeah Tussle Sprout, Shrednaught and Lob Goblin have variants

Well, why wouldn't anyone want their Golden Queen to be silver...?

Seriously, the biggest gripe I have with this franchise are the unmotivated look changes, for some characters.
And that says A LOT.

Am i the only one who actually likes some of the evolved states? Like chomp chest, threatpack, bad juju, and grinnade.

Haven't evolved Chomp Chest, Bad Juju and Grinnade, yet, but Threatpack definitely looks cooler.

Why make the Chompy Mage blue, Gulper green and the Golden Queen silver...?
Did those color changes needed to be so drastic?

Krankcase looks cooler too, in his evolved form, because only his dresses and his gun changed colors, not his entire body...

Just so you know, gold is usually depicted as being one better than silver, so that would actually just be a downgrade.

Unless that silver was a bit more "white-ish".

Then it would be more like a Platinum Golden Queen.
