Hi Everyone,

I would like to get some honest opinions of what people think of Trap Team...

I'm an adult player, I started out with Giants (on a Wii) after playing it with my nephew back when it was first released.. I love the game, except for level 14 (I think) where you have to fly the helicopter... I hate that bit... LOL..

Anyway, I recently picked up a Swap Team starter pack for $25, and a Spyros adventure starter pack for $15..

I have just finished playing Spyros Adventure, and whilst it was not quite as challenging as Giants, I still found it enjoyable...

Today I started playing Swap Force, and I'm just not enjoying it... Its like a cross between Spyros adventure and a bad cartoon.. The chompies look like stuffed animals.... LOL.. And WHY did they have to go and change all of the buttons around... Now I try and shoot a bad guy, and end up jumping over them... LOL..

I was thinking about getting Trap Team, but now I'm not so sure... If its similar to Swap Force, then I'm not sure if I want it...

So, how does the new Trap Team compare to the others..??

Cheers..

Swap Force was made by Vicarious Vision and not from Toys for Tob, Trap Team is make by Toys for Bob again and it's a very wonderful game like Spyro's Adventure and Giants smilie

Trap Team is a lot similar to Giants and Spyro's Adventure, since, as Buuzer said, SWAP Force was made by a different company.

It does have the jump button, but once you get used to the new configuration, it definitely feels like an improvement of the first two games, gameplay wise smilie

Swap Force is the best then Spyro's Adventure then Giants and then Trap Team which is far too low and content.

In my opinion, trap team has one of the best storylines of all the games. its graphically like the first 2 but has some elements of swap force. it does lack a bit in extra content but provides solid and less painful ways to level up your skylanders. the gimmick is exciting and fun to play with. Sadly depending on what console you play you may encounter some bugs, I havent personally from my ps3 or wii u but others have reported them.

I personally loved trap team so much, the need to keep going through the game to see what happens next was so powerful. It is a huge step up from the bland story and levels that we saw in swap force.

I'm not sure if you are trying to be adversarial, or if your comment truly reflects how you feel....

My first thoughts of Swap Force was that Activision is trying to cater for the < 5yo age bracket... At least that would account for the graphics being like a poorly written cartoon...

Oh, yeah the story on Swap Force sucked but the gameplay and the content is the best in the series!

Trap team is great the concept of trapping villians is great and I am excited about the addition of light and dark elements and that there are actually adventure packs or action packs as they are called explaining the new elements so it is not just new elements that were never involved in the core of light for some reason (FYI dark and light characters are not officially announced so I will not post pictures with fear of getting in trouble with activision)

If you want to know the story of light and dark elements reveal below spoiler

they were formed from the explosion if cloudcracker prison

EDIT:changed my profile pic to knight mare the trap master of the dark element and I am just assuming since you did not get and have not yet gotten trap team you have not been following the news so I assumed you did not know this if you do well... I guess over half my post is pointless

I was really surprised when Swap Force came out...but they really won me over. Don't get me wrong all entries have quirks that annoy...but I tend to agree with this assessment. All however are still fun to play, each for their own reasons (Trap Team notwithstanding since I haven't played it yet).

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.

Swap Force is the best Skylanders game hands down. SOOOOOOOO much to do in it. I hope VV next Skylanders game has as much content as Swap Force had.

Of course, I hope there will be new enemies to trap, too.

I am impartial to which is my favorite game. Each has their pros and cons, but I think (in my opinion) that Trap Team has the best design for new characters, followed by SF, Giants and SA.

My collection, GameMaster78, is 225 figures, 31 Magic Items, & 36 traps (that includes variant villains and Legendary)
And I also have all 256 individual Swap Force combinations, with everyone totally maxed out and fully upgraded.
So, to quote Skylands' greatest pilot -"BOOM!"

Thanks everyone for all of your comments....

In a way, I suppose that it is good that all of the games are slightly different.. What appealed to me most about Giants was the need to search for items (chests, Luck-o-tron wheel, Legendary treasure etc) within the game... SSA didn't have that feature, and it was the first thing that I noticed different between the two games, and the main reason why after completing SSA, I went straight back to Giants to find all of the items that I hadn't found yet...

I find myself searching in SF, but most of the areas that look like that they could, or would be a path to a hidden treasure (like in Giants), actually do nothing...

Maybe I just need to try and stop comparing SF to SSA and Giants, and just take it for what it is, and hopefully it will grow on me a bit... Otherwise I have wasted a lot of money buying figures for a game that I will rarely play.. Oh well...

Here is looking forward to Trap Force........

Cheers

You won't be disappointed, then. smilie

Trap Team level design really encourages you to explore all the areas, and find the hidden collectibles.

Trap Team seems like a step down in quality and what you get for the cost; I'm definitely waiting for a sale to get it, if at all.

Fortunately, I started with Swap Force then went to Spyro's; otherwise, I probably would've felt the same way you do about its cartoonish style. However, the gameplay, character design, swapping mechanic, and other various detail improvements are all excellent and innovative, imho.

Vicarious Visions set the bar high in Swap Force in terms of quality, quantity of activities in which to use old figures, sculpt detail/colors, and paywall disguise; a bar that Toys for Bob promptly ignored. There just seems to be very little use in Trap Team for any figure without a giant chunk of clear plastic in their hands, although the general consensus seems to indicate that the story and villain aspect are very entertaining.

Now even though this opinion of mine won't be agreeable for everyone, but honestly the only game I feel is worth skipping is Giants. That game had very little differences and innovations to the game to feel unique and wasn't as much fun as the other three games. Even the cast in that game was underwhelming and not as fun and original as the players in Swap Force and Trap Team. Swappers can switch the best of their halves, Trap Masters have powerful Traptanium weapons, but the Giants were just big and powerful Skylanders. I liked smilie and smilie, but the giants and the cores weren't all that impressive. I still liked Giants, but it is my least favorite in the series so far.
