SST and SG level similarity?

Well, I'm playing SG today, and noticed something,

In Junkyard Isles, one location is called "Soda Square" and there's other Soda related names in that level
that's the second level in SG

The first level in STT is "Soda Springs"

Coincidence?

Dr. Krankcase's boss arena and boss fight music is similar to Drill X's.

I suspect there were all sorts of "reworking" of existing IP.

On a separate but similar note, there's not a lot of variety in Brock's Arena challenges. Mostly just the same challenges in different arena's.
