Pot isn't as harmful or dangerous as tobacco or even alcohol, and yet they're legal while pot isn't. It's the least addictive illegal drug and also the least likely to kill you (it's virtually impossible to overdose). It can also undercut drug cartels and gangs if a cheaper, better alternative is offered through legal means.

But really my biggest argument in favor of legalizing it is that it's pointless to waste taxpayers' dollars by jailing people simply for possessing small amounts of it. Housing criminals is expensive and someone having a bit of weed on them is not a criminal. I didn't exactly say I approved of Alcohol or Tobacco either.

Perhaps I just lack overall faith in humanity, but I somewhat see people taking the legality of it as an excuse to smoke it even more and lead to other problems such as showing up to work high and I doubt driving after having smoked or while smoking marijuana is a good idea. When people say about "legalizing and regulating", I just somewhat see the regulating only happening in theory. It might not be addictive from a chemical standpoint, but there is still the mindset of wanting to do nothing but smoke it that typical potheads seem to exhibit.

We haven't heard any major news about productivity being down in the two states that already legalized it, so I would say that we're ok for now.
An argument I can also understand is that some consider pot a gateway drug into more hardcore stuff once the person has used it so much that they develop a sort of immunity to it. Even then I'm not quite sure just how severe of a thing that is in the two states.

And I doubt it'll change a thing. Republicans love their filibusters so our time is going to be wasted anyway.

If somebody with terminal brain cancer is destroying their body and wants to end their life with some dignity rather than letting the cancer kill them, physician assisted suicide is alright.

I don't have an opinion on assisted suicide, as having to do research on both sides in debate, I've come to understand both viewpoints and can't really decide which one I personally believe.

At my old school if the kids didn't have their supply of crack or pot on them, they'd crush up nerds and other candies and snort them, in fact, one kid did it right in front of me. I swear you could tell half the kids in the school were baked as ****.

Haha, I remember in elementary and early middle school I was in classes with people who I'd constantly catch doing that. Even tried to do it with my own permanent markers a few times before when they'd ask to borrow them. Those types of people aren't in my classes anymore.
