Disappointed with Gamestop (as usual) [CLOSED]

So I went to pick up Elite Spyro and Chop Chop and reverse Trigger Happy which I did, but when I got home I noticed both had the gamestop sticker on them. On a collectors item?! Why do they really need to put a sticker on every figure? I can understand one for display purposes, but not all of them. I'll go to exchange if they don't have any I'll just return them, because I want them to collect not to open and that sticker ruins the whole packaging.

I just got home from GameStop. It was packed and there was only one employee there. The employee had to go in the back to look for the figures and came back with only Spyro. He asked if I could come back when there were more employees, I told him no. He then asked if I could wait for the store to clear out because everything is in sealed boxed with no labels and he has to cut them all open. I waited 20 mins for everyone to leave and the employee finally got my figure. He was super nice about it and gave me half off of a trap master. I also signed up for their rewards program and the skylanders club (which I didn't know they had) and preordered Trigger Happy. It would have been cool for him to throw in another free pop fizz, but I was happy with the Bushwhack for $7.99.

I second that. Not worth $25+tax, besides the fact that I don't need 3x stats to beat Trap Team, even on nightmare.

$75+ goes a looooong way towards an xbox one or ps4 or other next gen console.....especially with black friday coming.

I bought elite Spyro but they sure did put that stupid price sticker on the outside. I tried to carefully peel the sticker off but it didn't work all that well. smilie Chop Chop's came off much better. I only plan on also getting Trigger Happy so I'm hoping they get their act together and don't put the stupid price sticker on him.

I'm friends with the store manager, so he knew to leave mine in in the plastic wrap. I used my last $10 coupon and "preordered" a used legendary Trigger Happy as well as put my $5 on EE Trigger Happy. I saw Legendary Bash is available for $15.

On my way to pick up both Elite, I mentioned to my daughter concern over the stupid sticker! I completely paid for them both, a sticker is completely unnecessary! Fortunately, they were still in the back boxed up. When they came out of the box, they were wrapped in clear plastic baggies. Did most stores remove those to place them on shelf?? Doesn't look like the outer box inside is sealed. So is this what sealed would be? The plastic bags on them aren't vacuum sealed so they seem a bit stupid looking to display.

The idiotic GS stickers was a worry of mine. We got to GS and the employee had to get them out from the back. As a result, there was no sticker and it rung up from the barcode. It makes no sense why GS has a separate sticker when the barcode works.

I agree. I'd rather put the money it costs for each EE towards TT instead.. I have more than enough figures that are already level 20 w/o the 3x power....or even towards the next Skylander game.

The stickers do suck but they come off easily. I removed both stickers with no problem and no residue or paper left behind. Its like peeling a barcode sticker off an amazon box. Just cant rush through and tear it off. Just pull it slowly one you get a corner of it lifted and keep it supported while youre peeling so it doesn't tear. I don't like them putting a sticker on it but its not a big deal. It comes right off.

Pretty similar here.
Only one employee, could not find my pre-orders. After texting his boss, he found it locked in a drawer under the register. They were still wrapped in the bag, no sticker. 30 minutes later...Pre-Ordered EETH.

They never put the stickers on them if you preorder any items from there, but normally they're easier to take off since they just placed it on them today, or just use that solvent to remove it smilie

Good luck getting them if you did not pre-order them. My GS received only the ones that I pre-ordered, no one in my town did a pre-order and the only one they got in was the ones I did. Chop Chop , and Spyro are available on Gamestop.com as of now........obviously they did not sell out ( as expected ) , at least not as quick as say a Kaos Trap. Trigger Happy is still available.....and has a release date of 11/28/14. As happened today, I expect there to be some stock of Trigger Happy on Black Friday. I just don't think these figures are justified at that price and by the looks of availability on the current 2 out.....i'm not the only one.

I'm not here to start anything but I'm just asking that you be nice to Gamestop employees about Skylanders. Gamestop is a game store and we don't focus on toys, which is what Skylanders are.

I work with a bunch of people that know nothing about Skylanders and they always turn to me for answers. I know how it feels, you can point the finger at other companies for not knowing anything either.

And as for the stickers, it's there so people can see the price without asking us, and they are easily removed if they taken off quickly.

Ok... my counter argument for that...
Skylanders is for 1 a game... the "toys" are collectible game pieces. as a gamestop employee you are expected to have some knowledge on games to benefit your customer this goes for any product in any retail store.
Gamestop should NEVER put a sticker on any preordered item because it will NEVER hit a shelf, its going directly from the shipping box to a customer's hands.
Saying that the people you work with there know nothing about a very popular game series is disturbing to me

They know a few things but not as much as we do here, and why does that disturb you? It's not popular to them so they don't want to know about it.

As for the sticker we don't sticker pre ordered things in our store, so that was a case by case biases but again it's just a sticker, they come off easy

Again... as a gamestop employee.. it is your job to at least know basic information about the games you sell. When I go into a gamestop and ask a question about a game... I expect some sort of answer.
The sticker is an issue for the hardcore collectors... it damages the original packaging and therefor lowers the value of said item. Also... no the stickers dont always come off easy, 90% of the stickers i've tried to remove from games bought at gamestop stores have left annoying residue and distorted the plastic covers.
In the case of the eons elite, they are very different from normal skylanders... they cost so much more for a gamestop exclusive collectors item. I would want my purchased item to be in good condition and not have it destroyed by a sticker

I don't think that people are going to their local Gamestops and being mean to the employees. Being nice to people is just human decency and mutual respect goes a long way in any social interaction. The bigger thing is that GameStop absolutely sucks as a company and many have seen this through various experiences firsthand. I once had an issue with an online order and I tried several times to call their customer service line...you are very lucky if you're on hold for less than half an hour and even luckier if you reach a competent customer service-oriented employee that can help you out. I had to do a credit card chargeback to make things right (they didn't care to investigate when the credit card company reached out to them, so the chargeback went in my favor). Also around the same time, I used their online customer service form multiple times and realized that they don't even respond to those. Reviews don't lie...Google their satisfaction ratings and see for yourself...they're absolutely abysmal. I've had a mixed bag of nuts with the 4 local Gamestop stores in my area...I have encountered some nice employees and some who think they are video game gods and only care to make conversation to their regular gamer customers. During the Giants era, a manager laughed at me when I tried to pick up a figure and give one of the Frito Lay coupons for $1 off and smirked as if I was trying to rip the store off...and the figure was priced $1 higher than other retailers to begin with. GameStop hasn't earned my business and I refuse to step foot in them for my Skylanders purchases unless they have something I can't get anywhere else. If you work at GameStop, so be it, but you can't speak on behalf of other more unsavory GameStop employees we've encountered nor do we personally judge you based on the abysmal customer service ratings of your company.

Gamestop leaves a bad taste for me as well... when I preordered dark edition for trap team they asked me if I wanted gearshift as well, I said no at the time, they then told me it was FREE WITH PREORDER, they said that I just had to put $5 down on her to insure stock would be available and that it would be refunded at pick-up.... So I of course said "Oh free stuff YAY!" and went with it
I get there release day after taking advantage of TRU deals and was charged for gearshift, I was told she was not free even though the other employee verified that he too thought it was free, they would not refund my $5 and I ended up just paying for her anyway. I dont buy anything but exclusives from them and never will again, I'd rather pay more at TRU then give gamestop my purchases

GameStop is a video game retailer, right? Skylanders is a video game and the figures are video game accessories. A good employee should educate themselves on every single product their store has to offer, especially a store as small as GameStop. I don't expect them to know the gameplay of every game offered, but if that game offers as much extras aside from a simple disc such as skylanders does, I'd expect them to know about it. Also, when they have a full front and back page ad about a product, they should at least be informed. I had to pick the ad up, which was sitting right in front of the guy, and point to everything I wanted. The employee I dealt with had no clue the ad was even there or that November 1st was skylanders day...

I worked as a manager of a large retail specialty store (about twice the size of GameStop) for 5 years and made it my personal mission to be knowledgeable on every single product we offered. It's really not too difficult, especially if you work 40 hours per week. I knew that job wouldn't be a career for me and mearly just something to pay bills, but I wanted to offer customers more than your average retail employee. It's a shame that every employee doesn't strive to do this.

I don't have an issue with GameStop employees not knowing everything about every item they sell. Anyone who expects that is being unreasonable.

I do, however, expect GameStop corporate to understand when they get super-collector editions of items, that these should be handled with care (be they Skylanders, Collector's Editions of games, whatever). This should be communicated to store employees.

[User Posted Image]

This should not happen. :(

The sticker issue has never been a problem to be before, because yeah they put them on new games they sell, but it's on the plastic wrapping so it never touches the box. They also put them on other Skylanders I've bought, but I open all of them so again doesn't bother me. It DOES bother me when they put that ugly sticker on an expensive collectors item that I plan on keeping sealed. This figure is aimed towards collectors, and they should know that.

I went back and they took somebody elses pre-ordered figures which didn't have the sticker and replaced them with mine (I'd like to mention I also pre-ordered them). I feel bad for the person that's picking up there's if they are a collector, but this shouldn't happen. I'm going to call up a couple days before Trigger Happy releases and telling them I don't want a sticker on mine, and won't purchase it if there is one. I'd rather go without.

As for the person with the Gearshift story, they WILL give you your $5 dollar deposit back, but they don't want to. You may have to demand it or threaten to call the district manager though.

I wasnt in the mood to deal with it and didnt want to waste the gas to go back to TRU to pick her up there... so I folded, but that was the last straw for me, that was $16 I never should have had to spend

Edit- I will say though, I was making quite a scene in front of their other customers, including an outraged mom and her son who were also told the same thing about free gearshift

I'm just going to point out the fact that if you go anywhere else they'll know the same amount or less than Gamestop.

I've walked into Toys R Us several times and asked if they had new stuff to be told that everything is up front and the empolyee refuses to check the boxes in the back.

Walmart, Target, Best Buy? Good luck.

Gamestop may be small, but if you take all the video games they have there, do you really expect them to have knowledge for every single one in the story?

On a random note: Am I the only one who took his Eon's Eilte out of their boxes? [I don't even use the display cases... I keep then in a plastic clam lid storage box with the rest of my Trap Team Skylanders, to actually be played with and added to my in game collection...]

*I keep all my skylanders in separate boxes like the one described above, only divided by game.

I preordered mine and they had stickers on them. I don't expect game stop employees to know about everything skylanders or all games in the store. I do expect them to be educated on the special events, giveaways, products and sales they have. They rarely know about these things. As a customer, you shouldn't have to tell them that a new product is supposed to be pegged that day, or that a free figure should come with your purchase...sure other stores are guilty of this too, but "the everyone else is doing it" argument has never been a great defense in any walk of life.

Gonna have to agree with every word of this. I've worked in a variety of retail jobs through high school and college, I never expect employees to know everything. I do expect them to know about special deals that are going on (especially if that's the department they work in, and Gamestop only has 1 department).

I spoke with a nice gamestop employee at a different location yesterday, and she said they do have to put stickers on all the figures, but for Trigger Happy I should call a couple days before release and explain that I don't want a sticker on mine so can they hold one aside and not put it on for me, and that should work. She was a nice woman to speak with. I'll give her idea a try and see if it works.

As I've said, I never had any problems about the sticker issue, although I've read complaints about it in the past. I have problems with a lot of other things though (example, telling me I need to pre-order Ruby and Sapphire to get the Shiny Gengar / Diancie code).

I'm not one to throw a fit over anything but when the bottom of the code even says no pre order nessecary on the back i nearly chocked the jerk at gamestop who apparently can't read.
