On PS4 there is this new feature called 'share play' which means that player 2 on ANY game can just be a friend on your PS4.
Here's a video that explains it:
So it looks like if you have a PS4 we could play together, so list your PSN name below

There is a caveat, they won't be able to use their own Skylanders, they will have to use yours. All this is doing is sending the image on your screen to their and accepting control input from them (kind of like their over-priced rental service). You will have to still control the figures in use since there is only one portal and it will be in the location of player 1.
Cool feature, though. |

Yeah I guess that's the only downside. Well as well as having to have PS Plus, but still a really cool feature to have, also say if I have a skylander and someone else doesn't have it they could try it out and see if they want to buy it or not.

PS Plus and XBox Live are one of the best deals in gaming around. For $40-50 (if you shop around) - the cost of a single game - you get 24+ full games over a year, and if you have multiple systems for each is just multiplies. I have a PS3 and Vita and every month I get at least one game for each worth playing. Same with XBox. Then you add in discounts and frequent sales for even more. I don't even play online all that much, but do not regret having those for a second - my backlog of stuff to play when I get around to it is almost crazy thanks to those services. |

Darn, the thread title got my hopes up for a moment there. I am a bit sad that TT still doesn't have proper online play. I can understand them wanting to support the social in-person aspect, but as someone who doesn't really have anyone to play with in person, it kinda sucks not being able to play multiplayer. Mainly bummed about not being able to try the PVP arena stuff.

It's weird---8 years ago I'd scoffed at the idea of paying subscription services for online viewing of content (circa Netflix, Hulu)...now I rely / love it than my cable service (which I have reluctanctly re-established)...maybe it's time to take the same view for video games.

Has it been confirmed that it works with Skylanders? It tends to mention things with a USB might not work so it brings up that question. Also the framerate dropping to 30 FPS.

Skylanders runs at 30fps, not really a problem there. I guess we won't know until someone's tested it out but I can't really see why it wouldn't work. Doesn't help that PSN isn't on it's best behaviour at the moment so no one can test it out. |

It is said that all games will be limited to 30fps 720p while playing share play. I believe that the portal will be controlled by player 1, I tried to do share play earlier but PSN just doesn't want to work.

If anyone wants to give it a go, my username is MrOTill. I've been trying with a friend but he has a pretty poor internet connection so we can't tell if it's not working because it's early days or because of that.

I'm in the process of "cutting the cable", ordered an HD antenna and a Fire TV Stick for $19. Gonna bump up my bandwidth and ditch satellite. HBO going to streaming without cable service was a big push, gotta have Game of Thrones and their other great shows. If you get them on sale, PS Plus and Live Gold are absolutely worth it. Cuts way down on game purchases, because many of them you know will hit it soon enough - particularly less high profile first party games (that aren't must haves, but I do want to play). I've gotten things like Borderlands 2 and Bioshock Infinite for free this way. Quote: wideawakewesley
Good thing it isn't a big deal for a game like Skylanders. It's not exactly a game with actions measured in frames. |

I'll add you tomorrow and give it a go, for some reason PSN is down at the moment on my PS4. My internet connection is pretty strong and reliable so if it doesn't work it will probably be because of the service, I guess this share play is kinda in its beta stage right now so well have to wait a bit until it is smooth and easy to use. Yes, I think it will be a while yet until the service is running smoothly. |

With decent internet at both ends I've found remote play works very well. Stress decent internet, though.

It will take some adjustment...frankly now that I have cable again I'm asking yet again WHY I am paying for it. See, they charge me $70 JUST for the Internet, and the 200 channel offering is only $60 more. In reality I'm just fine using Hulu and "on demand" for any shows I like to watch. I did hear about HBO; will be interesting if they piss off the big cable companies with this move.

Apparently SWAP Force is restricted and won't allow this feature. :(
Dunno about Trap Team though. |

Interesting, it's a step in the right direction at the very least. I admit I'm not too interested, but I am curious to see where it goes.

Doesn't work on Skylanders - says something about the content being restricted.
