I used to believe in Father Christmas when I was younger. I even believed in him when one of my relatives portrayed him for one Christmas Eve when the gifts were shared. And the relative reeked of both booze and cigarettes and sounded awfully familiar. But I was kid back then and didn’t mind about the logical impossibilities of the Santa Claus concept, I guess I just wanted to believe in the magic and there is nothing wrong with that. Of course come modern days I don’t believe in Santa Claus as a real tangible person living in Korvatunturi (place where he lives in Finnish folklore), North Pole or etc. but I believe in him to be real in the realm of abstract, in the reality of ideas, so to speak.

But I do believe that Saint Nicholas was a historical figure back in late 3rd and early 4th centuries. And he came from the parts of the world that are part of modern Turkey. Quite interesting fact (until proven wrong in some distant future) is that Saint Nicholas was patron saint of children, sailors and prostitutes; quite a reason-consequence relation of subjects to be patronized.

I was a smart and intellectual child who deduced that Santa was fake very early on..
