yesterday, i finally got the balls enough to tell my dad that i'm gay. we sat on the couch (he was with his gf, i told her first and she said she doesn't judge, you are who you are and it is something you are born with). and she's completely right on that one. and then i told my dad. i was stuttering like crazy. i almost told him and his gf last weekend, but she went home, so i couldn't tell them both. and my dad kinda knew that i was like this since i was very little. everytime he would talk about girls and such, i didn't want to hear about it. my dad took it very, very well and i'm very, very glad he did take it very well. he said he would always love me and i will still be his little buddy :') <3 and then we talked about how my dad and my mom talked how if i was going to be a gay Male (and i am a gay Male) when i was way little (before my mom and dad got divorced in 1999) and she said she would support me and such. i really hope she does because she always asks me if i have a girlfriend and i always say nope. just oh..my..god.. i can't believe i finally came out to my dad. after all these years~ i finally came out of the closet smilie <3

Congrats!

I feel like I should ask this. I'm a straight guy who is fine with homosexual marriage, my Dad disapproves of it due to the Bible. I'm an atheist, and I've argued (in a civilized manner) with him about whether or not people choose to be gay. He argued that gay people are people who have unsuccessfully resisted homosexual attractions, meaning that it is pretty much their choice to be gay, and therefore he considers it a sin that they are knowingly committing. I'd like to hear what someone who is homosexual would say regarding this. How has your homosexuality brought itself to your discovery? Do you feel like there are any events that might have led to it? Does it truly feel like you cannot help homosexual attractions.

I'd like to hear about this and tell it to my Dad when we discuss same sex marriage again. I don't know much about it cause I'm heterosexual.

Does that not imply that heterosexuals are straight because they resist homosexual attraction?

That's exactly what I asked my dad. He said "I don't know".

mmmmmmm we can talk if you have problems. well well done! i dont get why people get scared though. most people agree with gays and arent mean to them. its socially acceptable now and they arent opressed her in england. or you live in an other country. i was still really worried when thhought i was a lesbian. my friends would joke about it (although they didnt know i aparently really did like girls) but its kind of ironic humour. my mum was in a phone call once and when she was talking about homosexuality in some other context i was absolutey frightened. i was shaking sometimes thinking my dad would find out. the fear makes no sene! but ha what do i know? maybe there ssome psyhcological reason to this illogical fear. like fear of spiders etc (im scared of those)
