Just started watching it on a whim, love it. Give this underrated series some love, y'all!

It's about a brilliant, ruthless, but kind-hearted dude called Shiroe who suddenly finds himself, along with thousands of others, mysteriously trapped in a world identical to his favorite MMO, with absolutely no escape, or rules, as anarchy ensues. Shiroe decides to begin rebuilding society within this new world, as more and more complications arise in a world utterly controlled by game mechanics.

WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH:

• Awesome main character who's a subversion of the typical ruthless-mastermind-anime-anti-hero; while being underhanded, devious, and downright villainous at points, he's still a nice and kind-hearted guy who genuinely wants to change the new world for the better, and is also unique in the fact that he is a support-class type character.
  
• Great, well-done depiction of being inside an MMO, with heavy emphasis on mechanics and politics, along with less-often addressed implications, e.g. whether or not NPCs should have human rights.
  
• Combat that very much feels like a videogame. Later on there are all out wars.
  
• (Again) POLITICS
  
• Emphasis on strategy and deception, the main character being a tactician
  
• Very VGM-esque OST
  
• Lots of characters, all getting development
  
• Relatively tame, so can be viewed with younger members of the family (occasional mild-moderate language and

  one character who's rather perverted and frequently at least attempts, but is often interrupted by more moral characters, to mention b***ies or p***ies, along with one older female character being a bit obsessed and frequently trying to un/redress a younger main female character,
  but it's pretty mild), but still deep and enjoyable
  
• Theme song that starts out as obnoxious but really grows on you... DATABASE DATABASE WOW WOW WOW
  
• Gets progressively more interesting as time goes on
  
• Loads of other reasons
  

And before anyone starts off the whole "SAO IS BETTER!" deal,
1. that's just your opinion, one I don't share, and
2. they're both very different shows and really shouldn't be compared.

i have liked log horizon for a long time. those getting into the anime should give it at least 5 episodes before utterly dropping

Yeah, I liked it from the start but it didn't get great until a little bit later (and it didn't get awesome until around Episode 9 when we see what Shiroe's capable of).

And there's tons of content in the novels I believe, so hopefully the anime will last a long time.

I was going to watch it before the second season aired, but then I forgot the second season was airing in like a month and started watching Hunter x Hunter instead. I'll get to it eventually.

And yes, it's very interesting once it picks up ^.^
Apparently the novels are super detailed about all the laws and economic reforms (so Shiroe is against Keynisianism? Awesome, of course he is!), might have to read them sometime :P
