Yes, it's for a good cause, but jumping over a rope like an idiot is not going to save someone's life.

To be fair, jump rope is good cardio if you do it at a fast enough pace, which is healthy for the heart.

^Then try something else for good cardio. Jogging or cycling is pretty good. Even brisk walking if done for at least 20 minutes will be fine.
