File Corrupted on PS4

My wife and I had just finished beating Chef Pepper Jack when WHAM file corrupted and back to square 1. Luckily for Toys For Derp, we like the franchise and will start over, but wow this game is a buggy glitchy mess. If I was a casual player and not following it online, I would probably be looking for a refund. TfB should hand over the reigns to an actually competent developer.

I really think Toys for Bob is in it for the selling toys aspect. They really need to consider having two companies work on the game. TFB can do the figures and designs of other stuff while an actual gaming company makes the game.

I had the same issue on the Disney Infinity. I called Disney to ask them what to do. They had me reset the playstation. If you have it laying long ways there is a sensor on the front top where the light is located. Hold your finger on the top over the front part of the light (but don't touch the eject button on the front). I forget how many seconds but the light will change color. It is supposed to reset any corrupted files. I ended up getting my game play back. Hope it works!!

Why start over? If you're on PS+, it automatically uploads your saves every so often to online storage. Personally, I've experienced no problems with the game on PS4.

It's certainly not fantastic with respawn locations when you fall off a ledge, but I have not bumped into any major glitches on PS4 either.
I also think Beenox was largely responsible for the Xbone and PS4 versions, weren't they?
Either way, it's unfortunate your jams got corrupted - but for whatever it's worth, it seems mostly a fluke.

My ps4 file was corrupted today and i as well had to start over from the start. lost all data even that data on the psn plus cloud. i am so upset. i had all my 100 plus skylanders loaded up. no i have to do it all over again.

Well then, I guess I'll just start being more cautious. Either of you drop back to the main menu before closing the game or shutting off the system?

backup the file on a usb stick or something after each level you complete....

Unfortunately I cannot help, since It didn't happened to me (at least yet... smilie), but let me thank you a lot, for being so kind and helpful. smilie

I can only imagine how hard it must be, to deal with all the bugs in such a huge game!

I'm mostly curious how your PSN cloud saves are also corrupting? Do you have it set to auto upload and perhaps it uploaded the corrupt file? I manually upload my saves, so I'm wondering if that would protect from an auto upload after the file has been corrupted?

I do have one question, Dose this mean that you guys plan to patch the game to fix some of these bugs this time? As the last games never got patches. Skylanders games are some of my favorite games out there so keep up the good work! But it would make it even better if you guys are going to patch some of these bugs.

You guys need to triage most of these....either respond with workarounds or prioritize what I hope to be a patch. ATVI's general stance for "no patches" for this game isn't going to end well if a few of these aren't worked and responded. We actually created the bug thread for you (ATVI) in mind. It's like one nice convenient place instead of fielding dozens of angry customer phone calls.

I guess we'll see soon enough. Hopefully TfB hasn't left yet for their well deserved vacation.

Yah I know... This is one of my favorite game series of all times, but this no patch stance is getting old now... only system that can't be patched that the game is out for is the Wii (and as far as I can tell it has the lease glitches of all, only major one is the freezing).

Why wouldn't they patch the game, when it has already received one at D1...?
Patches ARE meant to fix such bugs, and maybe to add extra fan requested content, but that's of secondary importance.

never had a patch on the ps3 and both game worked flawless... so it is possible to make skylanders games that work, and that is how it should be. activision aint getting my 800 dollars this year. do sloppy work you dont get payed, its that simple.

Ok, listen, I understand why you are saying so, and believe me, I don't want to excuse Activision for it either, but if that's really the most important motivation you have found to not play this game, I would really suggest you to at least give it a try.
If you play on a PS4, then just back up your saves on a usb, after finishing any level.
It's fast, and simple.

Just buy the Starter Pack, and try the core game.

If you liked SA and Giants, then you will love this. smilie

Ooooook so sorry i'm reviving a very old thread.
But how exactly do I get a save off the cloud on the PS4?

I just this moment got a corrupted save while trying to enter into the Kaos challenge. It did seem like things were going wrong the last time I was in a kaos challenge as I didn't seem to be getting that much EXP from what I usually do.
Still I assume a clean save was backed on the cloud but i don't know how to access my cloud saves.
But at this point it looks like i need to restart the game.

I agree that i think this has been the most glitchy of all skylanders games, i don't think i did anything wrong to get this corrupted save as I didn't randomly shut this game off while it was saving or anything.


EDIT

Ok i figured out how things are supposed to be saved to the cloud and realize i haven't set up any of my PS4 games to upload their saves to the cloud.
Replaying the game not going to be much of a problem it is however a bit annoying and has surely knocked this game down to the worst skylander game for me. It's such a glitchy game and when you lose a save file that's rather unacceptable. As far as I could see I didn't do anything wrong that should have resulted in a corrupted save file.

While I think Swap force crashed the game way more often for me on PS3 (I've not technically received a crashed game on TT yet), I too have received a corrupt file on PS3. In my mind, this is the absolutely worst problem you can have -- your work totally eradicated. Shame TfB.

I cant speak for the PS4, but I have a ps3 so its similar. When trapping Smoke Scream, the fire villain, my game crashed and I lost all my data. Saved on the playstation network or not, it was gone. So, I restarted and mind you, I was doing this in Nightmare.

About a week or so ago got a big scare when the entire PSN went down and I had no trophies, no saved games, nada, on any of my games. However, they all came back at 3 pm when the network was back.

So yes, one can lose all their save games. I hear Xbox has had its troubles over the years so if I was starting over, not sure what I would get, maybe a Wii. Either way, can relate to you having to start over. I have heard from a number of other folks that trapping villains, especially after switching from a different trapped villain can be a cause of crashing so now I do not trap villains unless I absolutely have to. Have finished the game on Nightmare and got rank 40 and all my characters were not yet level 20 so at least the replaying was not wasted in experience points.

I just keep my saves backed-up in a usb.

Every time I quit the game, I save my progress inside it.

Simple and fast.
Accidents happens, and I started doing this from the moment I knew about this problem.

And have now bought a back up disc and all my Infinity and Skylanders games are backed up, in theory. Hope I never half to worry about how to move the files over.

That's a BIG problem, something none of the previous game had.

However, since accidents happen, It's safe to keep a back up file of the games you care the most, just in case.

That's a BIG problem, something none of the previous game had.

However, since accidents happen, It's safe to keep a back up file of the games you care the most, just in case.


Backup is a best practice for just about anything digital, for sure. But we as consumers shouldn't put up with sloppy coding or testing.

I play on Wii U and also back up my save to a USB drive whenever I get a chance, specifically due to people reporting these issues on this forum.
