Traps With Memory

So, SkylanderLanderBoyandGirl talks about how traps have "memory" in terms of which characters is evolved on which trap.

I do have a follow up question: If you swap out another villain in the same trap and evolve that villain, will it remember ALL villain's evolution status on that single trap or does it only remember the LAST one you evolved on that trap?

I'm trying to understand the comment about needing more traps.

The traps remember all villain evolutions you've done for that element using that trap. So say you evolve the golden queen on one play through and then use the trap to capture her in a new file using the same trap, it'll already make her evolved.

OK, so there's no re-work to do then? Not sure I get the problem then...that sounds like the best of all worlds.

I guess they're saying if you decide to re-trap a skylander you've already trapped and evolved into a different trap that you'd have to replay the quest. Soooo...either use the same trap or not depending on your objectives.

There doesn't seem to be any way to reset traps so far. Been scouring the in game menus etc and zilch.

Some of the evolved colours are rubbish (I'm looking at you, Tussel Sprout...). Bit annoying really if you want to use a particular sculpt for a certain villain, since if there's a cosmetic change on a Skylander that you don't like, reset and then you can avoid the upgrade.
Oversight? Perhaps. Marketing ploy, as you mentioned in another topic? Just as likely IMO

i didn't understand the comment about needing more traps either, i only used one trap of every element to evolve all the villains, and they are all still evolved when they have been swapped out and put back in.

what i think he is saying, is if you want to have an evolved version of for example, wolfgang on both the orb and skull, you need to do the quest on each trap.

i think a simpler way to explain it is that evolution(and variants) are tied to the specific physical trap.

it is a shame that the evolved-ness can't be removed from a trap.

A trap "reset" should've been included in my opinion. Some of the evolved visuals are gawd-awful, and I think on purpose--equally so the lack of the feature...to feed into the need for more traps.

I think the introduction of patches could mean that they might solve that "problem" (wich is the only one I found, so far).

So, yes, the traps store info on evolved status and quests. So, the problem is (for us) we are playing through the levels, having to trap and evolve Characters onto the same trap, we have trap sculpt duplicates that we eventually want to replace with original new moulds once available.
Sorry that I wasn't clear, my frustration is since we plan on getting all traps, we now have to complete those quests twice.
We have evolved Krankcase on a Tech Scepter and Evolved Mab Blobs on a Tech Scepter, but once a new Tech Trap comes out, we then have to complete the quest again. Luckily, some quests are at the beginning of the level and super easy but wasn't happy about playing the "slow-moving-forever-taking" brawl and chain quest multiple times.
So for someone that is playing the game and only intends on getting the minimum 11 traps, you're good and this won't affect you, but if you'll be collecting traps and evolved villains matter to you, be prepared to play them multiple times.
Hope that is clearer.
Thanks

This is why I'm resting the game now until I can get the rest of the figures or at least enough to 100% the game.

I never said that. I've done pretty much everything I can do with the figures I have and I don't want to replay levels over and over. So I am going to wait until I can access more areas of the game before I replay it.

okay i see.... but grinding is a big deal with this game, that is how it is meant to be played. if you have to wait 6 months before you play it, to lessen the boredom. maybe this game ain't your thing anymore and you have grown out of it.

Do the evolved form of variants look different than the evolved form of standard villains? I would assume so but haven't been able to confirm myself.

Are we sure that the toggle for evolved and not evolved is on the trap sculpt only and not in the saved game file at all? For example, trap and upgrade the chompy mage on one one sculpt, then trap and upgrade the chompy on the same trap. Then go to another save file, or different console entirely and retrap the chompy mage on the same trap, will he be evolved? It sounds like it would be, but I'm guessing SkyDad didn't mess with mutliple save files.

Personally, this isn't a concern for me and my family as we all agreed that we don't give a darn about trap designs, so we went ahead and bought all the traps, except for unknowns of course, even having duplicates. I figured pricing wasn't going to get any better then BOGO $1. I don't consider storing all this info on the trap to be a good sign though as far as future games go. I was hoping that the traps would expanded in some way later on, but if they are taking up more memory to track the evolved status of each villain it could possibly hold, then that is limiting the space available. Doesn't kill expansion, but makes it less likely.
