I can imagine it'd be very upsetting to children buying the 3DS version if they didn't do anything special...guess this means the sidekicks will finally be getting cards of their own to boot?

Which also means they will probably become more readily available. Glad i didn't grab them for 20-40 bucks each on ebay.

Well thus far only revealed to be the giants figures, so the original sidekicks are probably still going to be rather rare.

i think the two sidekicks might be different. the new one has a red trap team base, while the old one has an orange giants base.

the new ones possibly function more like actual figures rather than just followers. its just speculation at this point though

Notice how barkly has a "stat card" in the 3ds pic. He defenetly is usable, same for any sidekick.

I'm not entirely sure if the Sidekicks with green and orange bases will function the same as the ones with red bases, but we'll have to wait until the people at E3 confirm this.

I think it would confuse a lot of kids if new sidekicks were playable but old ones were not. I'm thinking maybe the new sidekicks are more 'series 2' with some upgraded attacks or something

Except that previously, the sidekicks were magic items and not actual Skylanders. So as TSD said, we'll have to wait until someone confirms. I'm hoping that we can use the old sidekicks as playable characters like everyone else, but I'll believe it when it's confirmed.

My speculation is... that this is just awkward mistake. There will be completly new portal there and Barkley... It actually should be a Food Fight character. Someone just made stupid mistake and others didn't corrected him.

But the mistake extended to the point that barkley also got a stat card? It's all just a little weird, I'm just gonna wait to see the final image.

My theory is that as there isn't the new type of portal and it doesn't appear to come with any traps, the 3DS game will have the sidekicks work in the same way as the villains do in the console version, or fight alongside you like a magic item does. However in the console version they will work in the same manner as they always have.

What sucks, is those of us who already have some or all of the sidekicks, they are one of the only releases that do not have stat cards. Now the ones you have feel incomplete in that sense, if now they will all include cards.

The old sidekicks were only followers, basically items, i don't think the chip in them allows for anything else. if there is more use for sidekicks in trap team, which have a stat card would lead me to think, they would need to be able to have attacks, money storage, exp etc.

the one in the 3DS image also has a red base, so its not the same as the ones already released.

i think the old 8 will function as items, the new ones will be characters.

I think that the Sidekicks will replace Lightcores, because no one has seen anything about Lightcores for STT, and also because the Lightcores aren't a cool new innovation anymore.

I also think that they will release more Sidekicks, and that they are the other new innovation that hasn't been announced that Paul Reiche was talking about. Plus, we've seen a mini Spyro in the trailer, and I think that Barkley in the 3DS Starter Pack and Mini-Jini in the logo are just to cover up the new Sidekicks that could possibly be out.

Sorry for the rant...

Personally I'm not quite sure it was trigger snappy.... it seemed like Trigger Happy just not holding his guns at the time. Later in the video, after they all fight, the character is clearly Trigger Happy, as he is holding his guns.

People keep mentioning a mini spyro. Has this been confirmed at all? I saw the part of the reveal trailer people mention, but all I saw was a blurry figure on the table that I couldn't make out to definitely be anything. So is there confirmation on this mini spyro, or is it still all speculation on the blurry figure?

The sidekicks and the minis behave the same in-game. The only difference is the green and orange bases have Series 1 before their names when you place them on the portal, while the red bases have nothing in front of their names. I am happy that I have the original 8 because I will be able to have both upgrade paths at the same time. They are pretty cool to play with.
imdaly Red Sparx Gems: 44
#42 Posted: 05:44:59 07/10/2014
I always came in late for the first 3 SL games, so I missed out on all of the original sidekicks. When the minis were announced for TF and 8 of them are basically re-releases of the sidekicks I got excited because I can buy those much cheaper than the original versions and maybe finally be able to get those stars and light up some items in my collection screen in Swap Force!

So I bought all four mini packs and booted up Swap Force. I popped a random skylanders and Trigger Snappy onto my portal, and he showed up! BUT, it didn't give me the 3 stars for adding a sidekick to my collection, and it doesn't show up in my collection as me owning it! smilie I tried this with Eye Small, Mini-Jini, and Terrabite, and I got the same results. smilie

So the "minis" that were previously released as sidekicks WILL work as sidekicks in Swap Force...but they won't show up as added to your collection. smilie

Please help me understand this before I actually spend money:
I already have the original 8 sidekicks. And unlike several collectors, I don't like owning duplicates. So the double packs which force me to buy a duplicate of the old sidekicks is unattrative. I have the option of buying only the new ones loose on the secondary market to avoid the duplicates---BUT I don't want to that only to find out that the old sidekicks don't work and I need the new ones anyway.

My questions are these:
Do the original 8 sidekicks function identically to their new versions (in the Trap Team game)?
Are the only differences a series 2 tag and a red base?

Thank you for your help!
alegeobla Gold Sparx Gems: 2501
#45 Posted: 13:47:11 09/10/2014
It appears to be that its just a series 1/2 tag difference in game. I've been playing with Series 1 Trigger Snappy and he's fully useable.

He's also probably the most annoying skylander to play as. Trigger happy is annoying with all his maniacal laughing, Trigger snappy is even worse because his is high pitched haha
