Unlike Swap Force, the "Ownership" thing has returned in Trap Team. This sort of feature was not seen since Spryo's Adventure and Giants. So therefore, in order to add the figures to the in-game collection, one must pause while checking out the selected Skylander on the portal, choose "Ownership" and then the rest writes itself. Does that mean we all have to that for all the game files instead of just placing Skylander figure(s) on the portal one time?
For instance, Game File 1 has 20 Skylanders, but Game File 2 has 0 Skylanders. I just wanna know for sure before buying this game.

nah, i didn't need to take ownership, it did it just buy putting it on the portal.
i'm on PS3, so ownership might be tied to my PSN account or something

Ownership is in Swap Force. I've had to claim many of my Skylanders.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed. |

Well, I have the Wii version of SF, and my Wii was having issues at the time. At one point my save data got corrupted and I had to wipe the SF saves. When I opened the "Manage" tab of the Skylander menu, instead of saying "Nickname" it said "Ownership." I had to claim ownership for each Skylander to add them to my collection. It only happened to me when I used my old Skylanders though; fresh from the box Skylanders that I got later I used without that issue. EDIT: What happened is my save data got erased so all of my Skylanders thought they belonged to a different copy of the game. This caused me to have to claim ownership for every single one. If you played on one system and one save, though, you would never notice it.

I only had to do ownership in Swap Force if I played on the WII U version as they were owned on the PS3 version.

SF did have ownership. I started SF off on wii, and then migrated to xbone. Once on the xbone, I distinctly recall having to manually take ownership of all the previously played figures.
I'm really curious to see how this plays out for TT, regarding ownership, accounts, file saves, and how they interact. DI does some interesting stuff with ownership and accounts. Here's what I've seen with DI. - DI has saved files, but they are in smaller pieces (toy boxes, play sets) then TT, where the whole game is saved. - Therefore, DI does ownership by gamer account. I am curious to see if TT will migrate to this method instead of ownership by saved file. - DI allows shared ownership, with at least two gamer accounts. Perhaps more, I haven't researched it or tested further. - DI upgrades and skills are by ownership, not by figure alone. For example, while playing Nova under my gamertap (Melvimbe) he is level 16. When my son uses Nova under his gamer tag (bananaman) Nova is level 9. This is tremendous as it allows more then one gamer to have their specific 'unique' character, even if you only have 1 figure. - When playing in coop mode, each player must log in with their own gamer account. However, player 1 is the owner of the figures. So if melvimbe is player 1, and bananaman is player 2, when banaaman plays as Nova, he is level 16. (There is a real downer I think) - Because of this, I'm doubtful that figure data is stored on the physical figure, as it perhaps stored on the console/cloud by gamer account. So back to TT, I wonder if the game will use the account functionality in anyway. I am somewhat doubtful they will change anything, because they have precedent, and because they like to keep it simple. DI doesn't really complete it either since shared ownership doesn't work in coop mode, not the way it should anyway. It also downplays any need to buy multiples of the same figure. It would be nice though if TT has players log in with a gamer account in coop mode, and track achievements that way. As well, have shared save files across multiple accounts. |

As of Swap Force, the figures had two separate and active ownership tags. These tags are specific to individual accounts/profiles. One of the tags was used by Adventures and Giants. The second tag was used by Swap Force only. Thus, you have two separate and active "owners" for the figures. This is why when anyone loaded ANY figure into SF for the first time it "automatically" took ownership. It did, SF simply didn't change the owner status for SG and SA.
I don't know how TT works (I don't have the game yet)

^This. This is exactly what I was going to say. You just didn't notice ownership because it automatically adds it. If you never had an issue with your game files, you never needed to mess with ownership.

err...its weird, I had to do ownership for my 360 for Sf and PS3 SF
Last night, I just dropped them on the portal and the game gave me ownership (XBOne). It didn't help my portal ranking though :/ - Unreall |
