Just returned back from the Walmart in Utica, NY and they had a pair of 3DS Trap Team starter sets out. I knew I had no chance of buying one before street date but I tried to nevertheless. Even though I was shot down, I am still pretty happy to have one in my "possession" a week or so before I was allowed to.

Anyway, here are the photos of the box art just in case no one has any uploaded yet. The poster image is different and I wonder if that's the final one or not? Obviously the portal of power is just a normal old portal with no trap crystal slots at all...for some reason I thought it would take crystals and that they had special 3DS version baddies to put inside of them instead. Silly me!



I'm not entirely certain I would actually buy this when the time does comes around. I feel that I can wait for the Black Friday discount, or perhaps skip it entirely. Depends on what others has to say about it really.

Some Walmart employees actually allowed a few customers to buy Trap Team Starter Packs and toys, breaking the street date. But I'm not sure why Walmart puts the packs up on the shelves to begin with.

Must be to test how to set them up and just to see how the shelf design looks.

I don't see how they could since these are set up to not ring up at the register. They will display a message stating "Do Not Sell" and then the street date. The only way they could do this is as a misc. dept. transaction...but if caught would face disciplinary action at the very least. I tried this last year with Swap Force and last week with a Rocket Racoon fig. and both times were a no go.

About the poster, it looks like it will be the 3DS one. Because the 3DS doesn't have traps and different villains there is no need for it to match the console poster. It still has the two sets of unknowns though.

You give them way too much credit. The TT starter packs were put out because the stockers didn't really notice the difference between SF and TT packs, or if they did, didn't realize there was a street date on them. The packs were mixed in with SF as if they were one in the same. I saw the same situation at my local walmart.

I still don't understand why the 3DS version doesn't have a variant this time around. I guess this is the final proof I need to cancel my pre-order. (of the 3DS version, at least.)

just like I canceled mine! I'm going to play the PS4 version ragged and then scoop a 3DS pack a while down the road when the first deep discount sale hits. Like, deep deep discount. This pack isn't worth nearly $60-$65.

It used to be two as of then unreleased figs and a variant now it's just one unreleased mini..

"unreleased" being only partially accurate

I plan to buy the 3ds pack when it's like 19.99 or something later in june. I'll prob wait to buy gusto till then also.

Or they just remodeled Barkley with a different mould like they did with single pack Pop Thorn.

cause most walmarts aren't that smart. I bet if you go look friday afternoon and saturday morning you'll find them everywhere. Because WalMart doesn't pay attention
