Well... Insomniac Burbank's putting the finishing touches on Sunset Overdrive. And both studios are reimagining Ratchet & Clank for the PS4. So I highly doubt we'd see anything really. Especially if Sunset Overdrive performs well as an Xbone exclusive. <.<
Although I suppose it would interesting to see Insomniac try to make something without weapons, seeing as they haven't done that since their days under Universal. Also, I'd love to see Boris Salchow compose for a Spyro game. XP

Unless Sony bought Spyro back, I cannot see Spyro and Insomniac coming together again sadly :/ .

Actually, I could see them working with ActiBlizz. In the last 2 years, Insomniac has teamed up with Microsoft Studios and *gasp* "The Devil of the Video Game Industry," Electronic Arts. <.<;

This is a strange turn of events. Ted has always been very reserved with Spyro, he's always said that they can't ever see returning to the franchise. A "never say never" response is a bit... Unusual of him.

It kinda makes you think that there could be something in the works. I dunno, maybe I'm just an idiot.

Perhaps he's been replaced with a robot duplicate? ROBO-TED WILL DESTROY ALL. Either that, or remaking the original Ratchet & Clank has got them very nostalgic. <.<;

Lol, maybe it has made them understand what nostalgia means. |

Well, to be fair, the original Ratchet & Clank plaid a LOT like the Spyro games in numerous aspects. >.>

How so? Are you referring to some of the mini-games and large explorable levels/worlds?

I'm with HIR; the first RnC had a serious classic Spyro feel to it. I haven't played it in years, though, so I can't remember specifically why. XD It had a lot to do with Ratchet's personality and the music, as well as the bolt collecting, at least.
As for the actual topic... It's interesting, but it means absolutely nothing until someone makes an actual, official announcement that Insomniac has been hired by ActiVision to make another Spyro game (and no such announcements have been made or even hinted at). |

1) Less linear levels that are similar to the open-ended worlds in Spyro, with multiple paths and hidden areas to hide big secrets. 2) Simplistic enemy combat and interactions. Yes you had guns, but the enemies still followed a single pattern and talked in grunting, just like they did in Spyro. 3) Upbeat, percussion heavy music with gratuitous sampling. Sure, it was David Bergeaud and not Stewart Copeland, but I got that same sense of energy with the music as I did from music in the Spyro trilogy. The remake will be redoing the soundtrack, though. 4) Ratchet's ship controlled identically to Spyro in the speedway levels. 5) There were a LOT of "Pay to progress" instances, albeit with different characters instead of one (Moneybags). 6) Ratchet's underwater controls with the Hydro Pack felt extremely similar to Spyro's underwater handling. 7) Ratchet had a body slam that he could do with the Thruster Pack that was just Spyro's headbash. It is his only move that never returned in another R&C game. And others that I'm too lazy to list right now. XP

Okay, that makes plenty sense. I've only played the third game and parts of the first. I want to try and play the original two when I do have the money because I had a blast (no pun intended) with the third.
I guess even when Insomniac finished with Spyro they couldn't let go his fun gaming techniques.

Spyro was the game series that helped Insomniac really refine their techniques as a developer. And they were never "finished" with Spyro; Universal just opted not to renew their contract on the franchise. They had ideas in mind for a fourth Spyro game.

"Never say never" is something I've learned to take with a grain of salt. I'm not going to hold my breath on this. If it happens that'll be fantastic, but I'm not going to be expecting it.

I think Ted's honestly just saying it because Insomniac turned 20 this year and Spyro is what actually put them on the map. Since Disruptor was a Doom clone that didn't find commercial success. <.<;

There's really no point to that, Kari. This is another instance of fans blowing something meaningless way out of proportion. I wouldn't get anyone riled up over nothing.

A new Spyro happening stands somewhere between Final Fantasy XV and Half-Life 3 in terms of release date.
In other words: "Never say never" stands between Square-Enix saying "Please be excited" and Gabe changing the subject. For now, there's still too much red tape around and too many separate directions to do anything about it.
