Does this forum software not tell you who reports a post? Every forum that I've ever dealt with that on, it shows who reported the post.

Do you see who's reporting?
Oops, just repeated what UncleBob said. But yeah, I want to know if you could see who's reporting.

How does reporting someone's post make their life "hell"or frustrate them? Is there some way that we lowly posters can even see when our posts have been reported?

As for auto-moderation based off of reported posts... ugh. GameFaqs figured out that was a bad idea. Wasn't aware these forums did it. Ugh.

How many reports do you get per day?

I think I may actually know why this post was reported, but I'm not the one who reported it, nor did I ask anyone to report it, so I wouldn't know. But seeing that it was reported for harassment, even though I don't think this particular post was harassing anyone, I'm pretty sure I know why it was reported. I don't want to say why out in public, though.

Ah. Probably a simple tweak to give the mods that ability then. I'd say ask him, but it'd probably be followed with a bunch of rude posts calling dark names.

Dark should put that into use, if there are going to false reports every now and then.

The problem with that is that some users don't want to stir up trouble. So they prefer if their complain is kept quiet. If the mods do get the ability, then some will likely hold back on reporting since they're afraid that if their name is mentioned, there's a possibility that it may cause problems with them.

I prefer to see the name of the person reporting, but there are others that value privacy immensely.

Mods should be mature enough to both handle reports with discretion and not share information about reports. Thus, it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

I'd say the vast majorty of forums allow for mods to review who reported a post when it's been reported. I'm simply basing that off my own experience, but I'd almost bet on it.

I was once on a forum where the admins were beyond inactive and barely seemed to care about the site, mods could do pretty much everything but suspend users. One night, one of the mods decided he was done with the site and deleted every topic on the site. It took days before any of the admins noticed and longer before it could be fixed. Since then, mods can only move topic and edit individual posts. Bit of a pain when someone spams the forum, but hey, I've gt a trash topic in a section no one uses to sweep spam under the rug and pretend it doesn't exist for that.

Another time before that, a user was made co-admin. While the other admins were away, she promoted friends and demoted the others having a cou over the site. Making users admins has since been suggested a bad idea.

Sometimes admins get worried of mods abusing powers, and if the rumors of Dark drawing names from a hat to determine the Hunters is to be believed, he has reason to not trust those he selected out of random chance.

Then it just comes down to him having made a mistake in choosing random people. He should've chosen 10 people who he knew were qualified, rather than 3-4 people who were qualified and 6 random choices he decided to take a risk on.

It's not. I don't even think it's a real "rumor". It's just something said, generally by folks who submitted mod applications but were not selected, because reasons.

May I suggest to you a nice dish of salmon in butter-garlic sauce with baked potatoes and pan-roasted vegetables. You enjoy the dish with couple glasses of white wine and rye bread covered with fine cheese and onion cream. How does that sound to you?

I recommend that dish. It is truly a great adventure to the test of taste buds. As a dessert one can have a strawberries or blackcurrants with whipped cream and semi-sugary shot of brandy etc. It will be a tremendous food experience, I say...
