I'm going to keep this post on the shorter side.
Last time I was in the ER it was for some severe athsma attack that may have been related to my allergies (no one has any idea, getting allergy/athsma check up next week). Anyways, that was the start of the problems.
A week after that, I ended up seeing my Dr because I was having tons of congestion, sore throat, runny eye, etc. Turned out I had an upper respiratory infection. They prescribed me strong antibiotics and some steroid medicine to open up my airways. The medicine ran it's course and I was starting to feel better.
Another week passed by, and I was feeling bad again. No idea why. I call the Dr to arrange an appointment, but instead I spoke to an Nurse and got a refill on the prescription. Ran through it's course. Finally felt better.
Literally a week or two later (IDR at this point...) my brother becomes ill. Him and I are always together, and I told myself "I'm not getting sick. I already had what he had."
Welp, I ended up sicker than a dog. I had a crappy sore throat that hurt to swallow, pain under my left breast, was severely coughing, incredibly pale and congested. Also felt nauseous, and had no energy.
I ended up seeing one Dr who ruled it out as viral, as I could definitely not have an infection especially after two dosages of antibiotics. The next day, I felt way worse and my mom ended up taking me to the Dr and they heavily suggested I got a blood culture and an x-ray.
I follow up the NEXT day for the follow up appointment (holy crap a load of appointments, thank God I'm double insured) and they look at my x-ray results. They tell me I have pneumonia and I need to go to ER.
SO I GET TO ER (god damn im so ****ing happy im not paying for this ****) last night and they put two IV's in me full of two strong antibiotics, another with water, and did another blood culture test. They re-read my x-ray scannings and ask how I'm doing etc etc. At this point, I'm going to be honest, I never felt better. Perhaps it was viral, and my paranoia of being sick had gotten to me? The Dr wanted to admit me to the hospital for the night, but he said not much would be done that I could do at home. I decided to go home.
And you know what? I feel great. I have my strength and energy back, I'm no longer running a fever or have a congested or runny nose, and no sore throat. Although...here's where things wrap up...
Apparently when I had an anthsma attack last month, and the previous infection in my upper lung area or w/e I did severe damage to my lungs. I was prescribed a stronger inhaler for my wheezing (viral sickness really makes my athsma bad) and now have a follow up on Wednesday for a check up on my lungs and various allergy tests.
Basically, I did hardcore damage to my lungs and getting sick made things worse, and the virus after words made things all much worse...On the upside, I am feeling so much better. I start classes tomorrow, and I couldn't be happier. The Dr told me that I will have this sporadic cough for a few weeks to even a month or two...but I'm just so happy I'm feeling much better and finally have the energy to post this.
(I also bickered at my Dr that I absolutely couldn't be in this hospital this weekend because I could not miss my first week of classes in fear of being dropped from them).

Huh? No. My brother and I were both sick this whole week, he did end up getting checked up though. I ended up seeing the ER because the clinic I was at thought I had pneumonia. |

Yeah, **** athsma related colds too. It doesn't help that my immune system is crappier than other twenty year old people. My blood disorder is crap and I hate it. |

welp bump.
i ended up waking up to a phone call from the clinic saying my white blood cell count was high from the blood test i got days ago (i do feel better though) and that they found an infection. What the hell, man. also, i've been still coughing and coughing up weird mucus, so yeah... It looks like it turns out my last Dr was wrong at the last visit! it looks like maybe things should be better for me. so im going to my follow up appointment on wednesday and they are determining if i need another chest xray (to finalize if i ever did have pneumonia or whatever) and are apparently giving me much stronger antibiotics to get rid of what seems like an irregular respiratory infection. --- sorry for the lame post, i just thought i'd update this with the hopes of getting this BS finalized. |
