Perhaps this isn't the right forum for this, but I'm not sure what is. I'm thinking about selling off my old wii as we aren't using it at all anymore. However, I'd really like to go back and revisit SSA and SG from time to time. Was wondering on everyone's speculation of Activision re-releasing these games on Xbone, PS4, and Wii U. I'm not really a gamer, so I don't know how often this sort of thing is done, nor how costly it could be.
It seems like there could be some profit there for Activision to do this. I'm sure there aren't enough Xbone and PS4 users to make it worthwhile, but Wii U is probably worth it. If not now, next year when there are more users. As well, I image there are some users that are holding on to their wii because of games like this. Nintendo might do well to partner up with Acti and provide SSA and SG in a Wii U bundle. Not that I care really, I'd get it for xbone.

There is no way that they'll do it. They want to make money off of the new figures so why would they do anything to support the old games.

Yeah, once a new game comes out all of the past games are pretty much forgotten.

A.) Unline PS4 and XB1, the Wii U will still play your old Wii games - nothing to worry about there.
B.) Giants was released on Wii U. C.) There's a very slim chance that Spyro's Adventure could see a Wii U release in the US. It had a Wi U release in Japan and included an English option (I think), so it'd be a pretty small hurdle for them to release it in this market. I've wondered if they would consider a free-release similar to Infinity. There's no reason not to - as other have said, Activision makes the money off the figures, not the games. Releasing the game as a free download could only encourage more fols to buy more (some?) figures.... Eon's Elite and all.... |

Saying there is no way is silly. Updating the games to where you can use all applicable Skylanders and possibly kicking out a small assortment of series 2s and 3s to go with could bring in supplemental income with less time and money then making a whole new game.
It's in the cards, just like all the pokemon remakes.

I'd love to see SA released for the Wii U in Aus. SA would definitely benefit from a remaster more than Giants. Especially because it has no difficulty option, which really sucks.
Right now that version feels most dated. The Wii version is much less buggy and has a bit more polish, but the graphics look poor in comparison to other Skylanders games. If you go with the PS360 version, you get an experience with more bugs that has noticeable lag and some screen tearing. SA that runs like the Wii version but has PS360 graphics. Then I'd be happy (er). A difficulty option or the addition of Survival or SF/TT level graphics would be greatly appreciated (especially difficulty options), but I'd just be happy to get a copy of SA that doesn't look so dated AND runs well. Oh and as for the PC version it's just the same as the PS360 one but tends to corrupt figures.

This is what I'm talking about as well. A polished bug free version with access to all "core" landers with a difficulty slider and select releases on figures that might have limited copies available (like adventure or battle pack figs where that's the ONLY place you could get them). The ability to use wow POWs, individual achievements....the whole nine yards. Make it a May release and it keeps revenues churning through a slower time of year. There is plenty of upside to it if done correctly, so like I said, thinking it's not an option and can and will never happen is a bit foolish.

I do eventually see a re-release x number of years down the road where the physical figures won't be required as they'll have a virtual portal and present a "digital" character to the game. I doubt they have time to remaster an existing game with two teams slaving over their compilers year end and year out though.

I wouldn't say that there is never a chance for a release on the next gen. It could happen. Remember how much Activision likes to make money: what better way than to upgrade graphics for the old games and release them again? Maybe they could even find way to make more figures for those games and just roll even more money out of old games.

I don't see them adding the new figures into the old game....not unless they've some even newer figures to sell as well. That said though, it's going to add a lot of confusion as to which figures work with which games.
And I think GR has a good point. Digital figures would be a way to go a couple years from now. |

I hope if the game goes totally digital (which I doubt), we get the choice to "import data" saved on our current figures.
And that it doesn't have some horribly rushed explanation or lack of explanation, but that should go without saying

IF it happens, it won't be anytime soon. Think 10 years+ POST the LAST game Activision releases from skylanders. I agree on that feature. Also, I suspect they may provide 100% figure support for all games, which would require some decent amount of testing and access to the code. If you're gonna dream, dream big.
