Well this isn't like other games, it was just figures so no leaks since they don't work on previous games(except the Minis and Gill Grunt) anyway. Might want to change the title to 'toy street date broken' so no one thinks people got a hold of the Starter Pack yet :U

Kind of funny that it says, "These figures will not be available in stores until October 5th. Why not grab them early and be the envy of all your friends?" So by the time he ships it out on the 19th someone will have paid over retail to have it about 11 to 12 days before it is available to buy in store.

This plus paying over retail to not even be able to play it til the game is available in stores on the 5th when that person could have just bought the figures for normal price.

Inb4 Activision takes it down most likely.

The back of the box on the second listing shows Bat Spin and High Five, with those names. Looks like all three names made it.

It's not that you aren't going to buy a character because of his name, right?

There wasn't any gameplay for them to stand out for me. Fr-- Bat Spin looks cool, but they never said what she does; and no previews mean I'm not risking them.
But if they do crappy judging for a fandom contest, then I'm not giving them money for their "effort". I'm giving money to the awesome stuff I-Wei and the rest of TFB start and finish.

So the whole thing was probably a fluff contest so that they could crowdsource a name for one they couldn't decide on.....

High Five and Bat Spin did have names from the devs though, Buzzker and Frightengale. They probably just decided that the contest had to be about random existing cores instead of new characters made just for the contest.

....Yeah, no. Only the most desperate fans would buy three-characters packs for $40 to get them early before the game is released. The seller will likely get caught by Activision and have his listings taken down.

I'd rather show patience and wait for the packages to arrive on October 5th than waste my money on the ones already available on eBay.

If they have time to mess with this, then I'd say they have too much time on their hands.

Well the bigger issue is how could these not be stolen? My local Walmart is famous (or infamous depending on how you look at it) for putting out dated material before the street date. When Swap Force came out I tried to get a starter and one of the singles and the register wouldn't even ring it up. It gave the "Do not sell until (Date)" message so I couldn't even pay for it. Most big box retailers have this system set up and what distributor has these to send out to what ever small retailer that might have gotten these legitly? These clearly "fell off the back of a truck".

Yep, don't doubt it. It's just not big enough. If there were 1,000 of them on eBay, then I'd say Activision might get involved. Clearly a retail or Acti employee or as you said "fell off the truck".

And two people already bidded at $50 for each item, they must be really desperate.

We are just perplexed.
We are not telling them what to do with their money.
But we sure can criticize some choices, if they are this silly...

If I had a YouTube channel where I showcased Skylanders then I would definitely buy them. I could have the first unboxing and review of the toys themselves.

Wondering if Acti has kind of left leaks be after that first big one with the stolen prototypes. For that big secret about the question mark characters, you'd think they wouldn't take too kindly to game stores leaving the game's boxes there for everyone to see(and steal if they're jerks enough) two weeks before the preorders are even out.

Australian preorders are getting sent October 1st, though, since there the game is out by the 2nd.

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised they haven't said anything about that yet. Maybe because it has something to do with what Sky dad is revealing on the 16th, so they may think it's not even worth trying to protect.

Yeah, but that it's only if they ARE revealed on the 16th, since that's in two days and no harm done. If the secrets can be revealed by getting the game(aside from story spoilers), just leaving the stores be could be extremely dangerous for their marketing if it's a release thing. Another game having a repeat of Smash 4 wouldn't be a good thing for the rest coming out this year (though at least Acti didn't have the guy that stole stuff from the factory spoil the entire game unlike the Nintendo of America employee).
