z-man, you know that just because TLoS isn't the type of Spyro series you want, it still focuses on magic and dragon elements. I mean, Spyro can still fly in the first and last games, Spyro can still breathe fire, Spyro can still use his horns to attack. I mean, sure, the personalities and the tones are different, and that's something that I appreciate until Skylanders became mainstream, but I really like that TLoS at least tried to be more true to the spirit of the dragons. I know it meant cutting out many of the hilarious elements of the classic games, but it worked for its time. I'm playing the first game, and I'm seeing that every dragon is acting more dragon-like, and that the fantasy elements are being applied to really put the magic in there. I know that DotD ruins it, but come on. Have you even played the games? Have you watched walkthroughs?
I've never told anyone that their favorite series is "dead" during times that the series has large gaps between games. One of the reasons why I'm not giving up hope is because I believe that someone will see the magic in the game elements. This situation once happened to Mega Man. The time gap between two of the games was 10 years, meaning that someone saw the magic in all of the old Mega Man games and made a great big sequel over it. Mega Man fans never gave up hope, and they got the sequel they wanted. If we never give up hope, we can get the sequel WE want.
Look, the saying goes, "Good things come to those who wait." We'll just wait to see what happens.

Yeah, in fact, I bought all three at launch. I was incredibly disappointed with ANB and how the series was being handeled, but I got over it and treated it as if it were some other series. Dude. Skylanders exisitance is why the Spyro series is dead. Activision isn't going to let Spyro become it's own series now. He is a Skylander. Please refer to what Mega Man games you are comparing, because I've played several of them and your point doesn't make much sense. Also, the difference with Mega Man is that Capcom always owned the rights to the series and was not in limbo hell. |

When will a whole new Spyro-oriented game be made and released. Well, I will put my opinion on this matter in a fashion of short nature. And here it goes.
This is the simplest and most accurate answer to this question. New Spyro game will be released when a certain demand is high and intense enough to actually provide reasonable and positive outcome to the entity that is willing and able to supply it. Entertainment industry is simple and cold business and is driven by the market forces. And if demand does not meet supply in a favourable fashion, there is no point to make a game that will eventually make financial statements bad in the eyes of the administrative and managing executives and other company owners. So to put it in simple matter, the new game will be made and released when there is enough of demand. And then it is up to the supply providing up to take the risk and make it. Before that happens the probability of new Spyro game seeing the light of the day is not amusing to us Spyro fans.

I might give you more opinions... for a small fee of course. |

Solo Spyro is dead, unfortunately. Skylanders has > 5 years to go before it burns out, then Spyro is completely dead.

within the forseeable future, never
i think the demand will never be met and spyro will never get another official game of his own i think the best bet is acti hiring one of their companies to do it, but since he's in skylanders it probably won't happen until that's over and even then i don't know what would change to make them do it i can only see them willingly doing this if mascot platformers become the hot thing again, and they probably won't i don't know how selling/buying the ip works, but i'm not hopeful for it to get bought by a more passionate company any time soon

You know what? Frick it. I'm getting back to that Lance book series and gonna license it for a movie series. Let's see how Frickvision will like it when they find out that they will NEVER get the rights to MY series.

You're writing a book? I hope you know how publishing and licensing works. Your book also must be excellent. Good luck with that. |
