That's weird, it says new cores are playable in all games... It could easily be a mistake or they could patch the old games, putting the new cores in the games? I highly doubt it. They have probably just mixed up the series 4s with the new cores. |

I kinda doubt it... I mean, they mentioned before the new toys aren't compatitable with the past games.

Would be awesome but if they do that with cores, they have to do that with trap masters, swappers and giants also.

Nah, they've been saying Lightcores of the original group don't work on SSA since forever, but they do just fine like a normal S1. And it would be pretty silly to have S4 Gill Grunt be all alone in Trap Team while other series are totally fine(unless they add a new button command dunno). Probably they mistook it or made 'work in the previous games' really strict so no kids would complain the Minis don't do anything in SSF or something.

@Aura Yeah, most likely a mistake but only time will tell.
I highly doubt that they would do that, though. It says something underneath, which you can read, but it wouldn't make sense to put a tick for every game. Ugh, the questions!! |

Edit: This whole poster is a mess. Series 3 and 2 in Trap Team don't work all the way back.

I think they just switched the new core and S4 accidently. That seems most likely given that it doesn't seem possible for the new core to be in older games and that S4 should have backwards compatibility just like all the other series.

Would be nice, but I think that's just an error. Characters like Chopper and Snap Shot weren't even a thought until they began work on Trap Team, so I really doubt they'd be forwards-compatible.

Read the fine print.
"*Lightcore, new and re-posed core skylanders work with the game launched when they were released and all subsequent games." Meaning if a character existed in a previous game it will work in that game.

...I still think they should do an HD Re-release of all the games in one package that allows for the use of the newer figures...

Yeah, I think the small print here is what is SUPPOSED to explain it, but it still hasn't done the best job.

A chart error, I believe it wasn't the first time we had this.

There's an asterisk (*) next to the Series 2, Series 3, Lightcore, and New/Core Skylanders, meaning the text at the bottom of the chart applies to them.

This definitely. They say series 4 only works in Trap team which is so not true since all reposes work in older games and just about everywhere already confirms that Tidal Wave can be played in all four games. Even the box said it and debunks that part of this chart.

The new/core Skylanders section should swap with the Series 4 section, then it's right

That chart is more than useless, it actually confuses what was simple to understand.

Didn't we complain about the chart last year? It defies logic with the folks that KNOW the game and limitations being fed this.

It also explains at the bottom that they only work with games that they are new to, and subsequent games.

Wow, that is a horrible chart. Yeah, it explains it with the asterisk, but the chart is just plain horrible.
Roughly, if the character existed when the game was released, then it will work (in some form or another) with that game. |

Someone can confirm how the s4 really works? I suposse it was an error and that Tidal Wave Gill Grunt will work in previous games, but can someone please confirm it? And how exactly it appears in the previous games (if as a s2 on Giants, s3 on swap force, etc)?

That chart is all kinds of messed up.
I guess the asterisk kind of excuses the new corelanders thing. But, the minis work in all the games (and later) for which they were introduced, they just aren't playable. Lightcores work in all games, as long as the character was available for that game. Lightcore Warnado works in all games. Series 4 (Gil Grunt) works in all games, and the chart on his package also shows this. Series 2 & 3 don't work universally in all games, just the games they were introduced for and later. Series 3 Pop Fizz doesn't work in SSA and Series 2 Fryno doesn't work in Giants or SSA. They are better off just not doing a chart for all of this. All it does is confuse people. The bottom line, if the character was introduced in a game, any figure of them will work on that game or later. Even variants as I recall work in games prior to their release as long as the regular version works, Royal Double Trouble shows up as regular Double Trouble in SSA. |
