So, my High School wants to create a directory of students. This is great, however, they want personal information. Such as height, weight, age, parents names etc. Thats not even the icing on the cake, they want to "post this information to social media sites whenever students win an award." I obviously think my district is the worst district to exist and this is the cherry on top.

Personally, I feel if they want to make a directory, just get names down, don't ask for information that might open them up to bullying.

I don't understand why height and weight would matter in a student directory unless you're an athlete. And posting ALL of the information across social media is a pretty ridiculous concept.

Talk to a higher up staff member about how the information they're asking for is too personal and can lead to bullying when spread online. They should've seen this to begin with.

If they want to make it, fine, just don't include the personal information. It seems unnecessary to me.

They had one in my Elementary, but it was only a hand-out booklet. It listed the parents names, address, and phone number.

I think even then, if you had reasons you wanted to keep it private, I think you could ask the school to not list you. Which honestly, for a directory, only your name, phone number, and maybe your address should be listed. Height, weight, & age are highly unnecessary.

wanna know the width of my thighs and length of my hair too? They don't need all that info!
