Discuss this awesome cartoon here.

Me personally, it's my second favorite Nicktoon, only behind Spongebob.
Helga is one of the best animated characters ever, and I also like Harold, Stinky, and Phoebe.

Wasn't Helga just the sassy bully girl, though?

She had a really rich backstory, too. The episode where she talks to a therapist is one of my all-time favorites. We see what it was like for her growing up in the shadow of her perfect sister, and being somewhat neglected by her parents. We see why she has such a crush on Arnold, and how teasing from her classmates made her become a bully as a defense mechanism.

Her childhood is referenced in a few other episodes, but I guess if you never saw the therapy episode, she might come across as less relatable. Sid's backstory is really good, too.

Helga is one of the strongest characters I ever seen in ANY show. She is practically abused on a mental level as no one in her family, absolutely no one seems to notice her.
And she is a prodigy. She is very talented... but her older sister, Olga, is even more so and overshadows Helga. Olga doesn't seem to notice this affect though...

There was actually a planned spin off based around the later years of Helga's life in her family. She had dated Arnold, and they still love each other, but he moved away. Her mothers drinking problem would be addressed, her father's head-headed nature would be confronted, etc.

There is actually a petition, I believe, to get this series off the ground. Don't know where it is though... Just look it up.

I haven't watched this series in a very long time now; I think the last time I saw it I was in primary school back in the late 90's, early 2000's. Around 1999 to 2002. I don't remember much about it now.
