It would be nice to have alternate areas that aren't neon elemental signs to explore...therefore it will not happen.

As much as I hate to admit this, but I highly doubt we'll ever getting to have the swimming part of the new I've always been fond of swimming in and flying over water. It would be sweet to see all Water Skylanders and any flying ones do that again since Spryo's Adventure and Giants.

Pretty sure they confirmed they won't be swimming in some of the very first interviews. Kind of a bummer, since they're pretty much creative ways to have an elemental gate without needing one necessarily.

I really liked the swimming aspect, it's a shame that it's absent from SSF and possibly STT.

I think they removed most of the 'elemental perks' such as swimming for water, crossing lava for fire and breaking rocks for earth to give a better play experience for all players. Essentially not limiting a certain area and their bonuses to just one element.

...They do this already with elemental gates, though. The difference is that they're part of the level, so there isn't a big arch telling you where you have to use the element, it's much more based on logic(except why can't fliers go over lava? They walk just fine surrounded by it in Lava Lakes Railway) than a sign telling you what to do.

I don't think that there'll be swimming in STT.
But if they do have it, I would love to see how the SF and TM swim, and maybe some villains required trapping on water! |

Swimming being removed totally nerfed Stumpsmash's soul gem ability and I thought there was another that involved water/swimming.

Double Trouble I believe. Yes, I do think they need to "re-write" their soul gem capability if they don't have that ability. That's just cheap.

They did remake swimming Soul Gems in SF so that they got bonuses in Water Areas, though they were bad.
Call me a fool, but I actually think they could return (not getting excited to explore them yet, though) Notice some stuff on the soda there? It could be hidden in a way they didn't show, but I couldn't see anything to push onto the soda to get there. I want to see water areas return, and especially proper lava. It was lame how everyone could walk on the lava in Giants. :/ I know that let them add enemies and stuff to Fire areas, but they could still make lava areas enemies couldn't reach (or tweak swimming so that if your Skylander faints while swimming, the next one placed is teleported to the last ground touched [or onto the water/lava if they can swim/fly/walk on it]).

It was the only thing that water skylanders had about themselves. And flying/levitating upgrades.

It is an image of Bop in some water... But, it seems more like a really light water, almost a big puddle, like the ones in SWAP Force ... And don't forget it is still an Earth character we are seeing there...

that must be like the soda in soda springs you just walk through it cause bop should not be able to swim unless... all minis can swim because they are so light
