Mort raised an eyebrow at Shane's idea of a fish gift, realizing that he meant fish for an aquarium and not for eating. He seemed to like fish for some reason, he noticed. His head shot up when he explained how he would ask the girl out, looking shocked. "Oh, no! No, no! Don't ever mention anything about mating! That's just really weird, and you'll scare her!" Mort blurted, genuinely afraid for the boy. He didn't know too much about human courtship himself, but the whole "asking to mate" thing was kinda rude on his planet for sure. The females chose their mate. "Just ask her to go to the dance with you. Be subtle," he explained quietly, gesturing with his hands how Shane had to be on the "down-low" about dating.
He then noticed that there was a new person with golden hair sitting by Diane. "Is she new? I haven't noticed her before," he whispered.

Zurgon was confused, why couldn't he bring up mating? Was that not a normal affair on this planet? He still had much to learn. "Just ask her to the dance....No swapping of fluids or mating? I guess it's easier than where I am from." Zurgon glanced over at the clock, he wanted Gym class to come so badly but it seemed like it was taking forever, then Mort caught his attention with his question, Zurgon shot his glance towards the new girl. "A new girl! Perhaps she likes fish! Why is she sitting with Diane? Do they know eachother? DIANE HAS FRIENDS?" He tried to be as quiet as he could, thankfully the teacher still hadn't noticed their conversation.

Raylem turned her head to notice Mort and Zurgon looking her way. She shrugged and wrote down the assignment given in her notebook. She slipped the notebook back into the front pocket of her bag. Raylem rubbed her eyes tiredly, and stretched shortly after. Raylem sat patiently in her seat, waiting for the class period to end.

Syndral had been too wrapped up in her book to really pay attention to her surroundings. She hadn't really noticed the girl sitting next to her, and hadn't really heard the conversation going on behind her. The world was just dead to her as she read her novel. Plus, there was also the fact that she had little interest in actually paying attention to the world at the moment.

Syndral still didn't like being on this planet. There were just too many things to list that she didn't like about Earth, and she could hardly decide on what she thought was the worst part of it all. Although she supposed that the worst part was being stuck here. So far, it had pretty much turned out to be her least favorite job, not that she really had a favorite. Still, orders were orders, and she was not the type to argue with her superiors. She was going to succeed in this mission, no matter how horrible the experience would be.

"Nnn... n-no, Shane, you don't..." Mort muttered, still faced towards his desk and rubbing his temples. His face colored noticeably at what the boy said he was going to ask. "Swapping fluids," seriously?! His embarrassment increased when Shane started blurting out random questions about the new girl.

Shane was confused at Mort's being flustered about his questions and concerns. "Where I come from it's straight up 'Will you be my mate?" Then intercourse takes place and the-" He was cut off by a student near them. "Dude, shut up." Shane was even more confused now, why didn't Earthlings have the same mating rituals? Of course Zurgon wasn't a fan of how it worked on his home planet he still wasn't sure how it worked on Earth. "Why are you so embarrassed? Do you have to urinate perhaps? I understand, I had to urinate last night." Only five minutes were left of class, it seemed to go by pretty quickly.

"WHY am I embarrassed?! You don't just ask someone to 'swap fluids,' I mean, come on? What planet are you from?" Mort demanded, slightly red in the face. He honestly didn't understand it; was the boy an exchange student or something? What kind of foreign culture did he have?! He guessed it was something like that "curtain of virginity" or whatever that the human group called "Jews" did. There was another problem about the humans; too many cultures, and too many fusses over it. Shane could have easily lost a friend over a question the likes of what he was about to ask.

Shane could tell Mort wasn't very impressed. "I'm sorry if I offended you....I'm just not accustomed to this places culture and ways....Perhaps you could teach me how to act and how not to act? Which of what I said was wrong? Or all of it? Ooh! A butterfly!" He shot his eyes to the window beside the teachers desk, outside a butterfly fluttered by, Zurgon was easily distracted. "But don't worry, I'll be cool when i talk to Rachel, she won't be able to resist me!" He tried to shoot out of his desk in a triumphant bask of glory but ended up falling out of his seat.

"Ah, you--" he paused when Shane stopped to stare out the window at a passing butterfly. He wanted to help Shane with asking the girl out. Even though he was technically an enemy, Mort could research cause and effect and learning ability of the boy. Mr. Melvyn did address this particular teenager as an "elite specimen." Besides... he didn't like seeing people embarrass themselves. He had plenty of that, so he should know how to help people avoid it. Like what Shane just did, by falling out of his chair, causing the students to laugh and jest at him. He groaned at this, hiding his increasingly red face with his hands.

Syndral had finally looked up from her book. She glanced back over her shoulder, seeing Shane fall out of his seat. She gave a heavy sigh with a gentle shake of her head, and simply went back to reading. She didn't really know what all the commotion was about, or how Shane had managed to fall out of his seat, but she didn't really care. Syndral was just somewhat relieved that all the idiocy was only happening behind her, and that she was not involved. At least that irritating human wasn't directly bothering her or trying to talk to her.

Shane quickly stumbled up and back into his chair, brushing himself off after he did so. "That sure was a nice trip! Haha. Back to my Rachel conundrum, I guess I just tell her I want to go to the dance with her...Right, that's what I'll do..." Just then the bell rang, ending the class that for most students was a bundle of boring.

OOC: Ah... the inter-dimensional thing would make things confusing. It would be best if you just started fresh with a new character. Sorry.

Mort was eager to leave the classroom, as it was incredibly boring and he didn't want to be in that embarrassing situation anymore. "So, where to again?" he asked, forgetting where Shane went for second period.

Daniel was sitting on a bench, looking through some books. He knew there were members of the Brotherhood of Worlds in that very school, but he didn't knew which one was which, so he avoided eye contact, pretending to study and waiting for the school bell to ring...

//Felines, I noticed you don't have any class schedules...This is going to make things very confusing, please remedy this situation~ Because it doesn't make much sense for you not be in class..As you can see we just had first slot, and now are moving onto second slot, I am a bit confused as to why your characters aren't in class //

Shane got out of his desk and grabbed his backpack. "I have math...It sucks, it's so easy and I'm in the advanced course! And I don't even like math anyways, easy or not...I don't have anyone to talk to in that class anyways..."

Raylem stood up from her seat and swing her backpack over her right shoulder. She made her way to the door of the classroom, and exited through it. She looked down at her schedule and then to the map. "Math class... Ah, here it is" Raylem said, finding it on the map. She began to walk in the direction of math class, gently swaying her head side to side out of happiness.

Felines has quite a bit going on, running another RP herself, so it's kinda my fault she's behind, as I haven't explained everything to her yet. Yeah, a school schedule is needed for consistency. Or maybe Daniel's a shirker.

"Mr. White?" Mort asked, holding the straps of his backpack tightly. "He's OK. It's mostly the class I'm not too hot about. Even still... could be worse. I have to go to the freakshow's class," he grumbled, not fond of Ms. Espinoza at all. He never heard the end of those chipmunk jokes after the first day.

Shane rose an eyebrow at his comment about his favorite teacher. "She means well...At least you can say that about her, you can't say much good about Mr. White...He just..His eyes are so empty and seem to be angry, he doesn't laugh, he doesn't smile, he doesn't care enough I think, I could run the class better, I'd make my students love math, make it fun, but he doesn't even try, I hope they fire him..." Shane headed for the door, he assumed Mort would follow. Shane shared a locker with rachel so he was sure he would see her there.

Syndral grabbed her things and hopped from her seat. She began heading out of the room to her next class, although she still appeared to be reading her book. As she walked by Shane and Mort, she gave a slight huff, as if she had heard at least some part of their conversation. However, she didn't say a word, and just continued on as if she didn't even notice them.

Mort thought about how Mr. White behaved, and realized Shane was right. He seemed so hollow and cold... but he knew there was more to the rough teacher than that. "Forget what I said about Ms. E... she makes me feel awkward, is all. You probably heard the story," he mumbled. He noticed Diane-- how could he not-- walk by with a huff, and frowned.
As they went to his locker (Mort carried most of his books in his backpack, as he found going back to his locker every period tedious; he had the muscle to accomplish the feat), a certain girl with dirty, blonde hair and spindly stature was shuffling through her book bag, removing books and placing in the needed ones.

Shane noticed the girl immediately and shot Mort a glance of nervousness and excitement. "I have five minutes...I could just ask her now.." Shane took a deep breath and mustered all the courage he could find. "Okay...Here we go..." Shane slowly walked over to the girl and said with a smile "Rachel...Hi, can I ask you a question of importance? I'm just wondering....Well...See, you're like, really pretty and I...Um..." He glanced over his shoulder at Mort, not sure what to do or say. "There's this dance...A-And I know you don't like dancing cuz you don't know how...But we could just stand? We don't have to dance, I mean, you and me, together, at the dance, holding hands maybe? We don't have to, Um...." He began to sweat, he was really nervous now. "I know we don't see much of eachother throughout the day and I think that we should change that, and um....I...." He let out a large sigh and then stood up straight, his voice no longer squeaky or cracking. "Will you go to the dance. With me?"

Rachel looked up from her work when Shane approached, and greeted him with a smile. She wanted to ask how he had been during the weekend, as she was too busy herself to contact him, but before she could get a word in he started stuttering and sweating nervously, speaking in broken, awkward sentences. As soon as he remarked that she was pretty, she knew what he was getting at. It wasn't hard for her to tell, by the time the end of last week came around, that Shane was having feelings for her. It was kind of obvious, and quite flattering. But she honestly didn't know what to do. She wasn't sure if she felt the same way about him, and she planned on going to the dance with her friends, not...
She glanced over the boy's shoulder to see Mort waving him on worriedly. Shane technically was a friend, so she didn't see anything wrong with him being with her. She was sympathetic and didn't want to let him down. But something about the whole situation felt unnerving, and the awkwardness and discomfort was rubbing off on her, now. She simply didn't feel the same way about him, she thought, and the thought of bringing him the bad news felt taboo to her.
"Oh... I..." She had to decide now. Now or never. "I... I'll... I'll have to think about it. Maybe... in gym class?" she asked, rubbing her arm in discomfort, her eyes darting between Shane and her backpack.
Mort raised his fiery eyebrows in curiosity, and scowled again.

Shane froze, he knew what this was, he was being rejected, he couldn't move, he prayed this day never come, he hadn't even had love before, not even members of his own species wanted to be with him due to his absurdity and it hurt, it hurt him so bad, it broke both of his hearts. "It's..." He didn't know what to say, he couldn't muster out words to describe what he was feeling, his entire body was hot and itchy and it felt like spikes were going through him, it hurt so much. "I...I gotta...I have a thing..." He tried to fight back any tears and then he casually walked away, gaining speed and heading for the closet where he hid.

Syndral looked up from her novel to see Shane run past her, and something seemed different about him. He didn't seem to be his usual annoyingly social and cheerful self. This puzzled her, as she wondered how his demeanor could change so drastically in such a short span of time. She turned to the direction he had come to see Mort and Rachel. Now Syndral was more confused. Had something happened between them? Didn't they get along, though? It seemed strange, as Shane seemed to like everyone. Well, possibly everyone aside from herself, and Syndral was fine with that. Still, she thought it was weird that he ran off like that.

"Oh, Go--" Rachel knew it was too late to respond as he was already on his way. "Ah-- Shane!"
"Aw, frack, look what you did! You made him upset!!" Mort scolded, swearing in his language (although it merely sounded like another substitution kids used). "You hang out, like, all the time! You should know how sensitive he is by now!"
Before Rachel could react, Mort was behind her and pushing her towards the direction Shane fleed. "You're fixing this RIGHT NOW!!" he exclaimed, nearly shoving the tiny girl to the ground. That little boy sure had some muscle behind those stout arms.
"I-- yes, yes, alright," she finally said, coming to her senses. "Shane, wait!" she rushed after him, beating herself up for being so stupid. It was "now or never", not "maybe later 'cause I'm scared of the whole situation!" Idiot!!

Shane had fought back tears, he didn't want to be a weakling anymore, or a baby, or a loser. He just needed to get away from people, something he didn't usually feel like doing, he had hightailed it to the closest Janitor's closet where Gordon usually hung out whenever he was on the second floor, though at this time the closet was empty so he could just sit and be alone, he left the door open just because it wouldn't have been the first time he got himself locked in a closet and he didn't want a repeat of that, god did they laugh at him when that happened. "You've gone and embarrassed yourself in front of her! You should've just not done anything, you should have stayed home....Your real home, you shouldn't have come here expecting things to be different." He snarled, angry at himself for being stupid. "You're too happy all the damn time and it annoys people, and you're annoying and no one likes you." He knew he couldn't change but he wanted to as it seemed people weren't too fond of him.

OOC: Lunarz, in that case, I need an update. This RP is filling quite fast, and I am a little lost.

Rachel ran into quite a few students along the way, saying "excuse me" and "sorry" as much as she could. She rushed past the janitor's closet without realizing that Shane was in there, as the door was wide open. She froze when she heard someone grumble and swear to themselves inside, and turned around to the room.
"Shane! Shane, I'm sorry! I didn't mean anything by that!" she blurted, not knowing what to do in such a situation. There was too much pressure, too many things that could so wrong. "I-- I just never really-- I didn't know how to respond. I never really got asked out to a dance before like that," he tried to explain, huffing from the rush she had.

Mort could barely see her on the other side of the hallway, his neck outstretched to see over the students' heads. He saw Diane continue her way, and ran up to her. "D-- ... Diane! Hey!" he called, hesitating a bit.

//All you really need is to make a schedule, go to that class and things will start to make more sense, unless you want to read everything that has happened so far.//

Syndral paused and looked around, hearing someone call out her name, or at least the identity of her disguise. She turned to see Mort heading her way. Syndral then took a moment to put away her book. She simply waited where she was quietly, wondering what he could possibly want to talk to her about.

Shane was still so embarrassed, he wasn't sure he wanted to talk to Rachel at that moment. "Don't lie, you're too beautiful to not have been asked out to a dance before." He turned away, still very hurt from the rejection, it wouldn't have been as bad if she just said 'no' it was worse that she said she would have to think about it, as if he wasn't good enough for a direct answer

"Not since, like, middle school! I just-- I don't--" She had to think of something, and think of it fast. "I was scared, and-- Y-yeah, I'll go with you! I will! I-I'm not just saying that!" she blurted, kicking the ground in her discomfort. "I was just... uh... thrown off a bit. I'm really sorry." She must have sounded so stupid, he probably wouldn't even listen to her!

"Ah... hi, Diane... uh... How's things goin' for you?" he asked casually, mustering a fake smile, his eyes oddly wide and blank.

Shane just stared at the ground. "You're only saying yes cause I'm a loser and you feel sorry for me..." He wasn't sure if that was the case or she was sincere, and he didn't know how to tell. Shane was used to being treated like a loser and being made fun of, it wasn't much different to how he would feel back on his home planet. "Besides, who would wanna go out with me? I'm annoying, and overjoyed all the time and it annoys people, doesn't it?"

Syndral blinked and was quiet for a brief moment, as if not expecting unimportant small talk, or simply being disappointed that it was only that. "Hello, Mort." She greeted with her usual monotone. She then sighed. "I suppose things are going well." She then paused a moment as curiosity began to nag at her. "What was all that commotion about? I saw Shane and Rachel run off in a hurry."

"Shane... I... I didn't want to answer because... I..." Rachel tried to explain. She gave a loud sigh, leaning on the doorway with her arm. "I'm just... scared... I've never really... We haven't known each other very long, and I'd hate to see how my parents react to having a--" she stopped herself, thinking that she wasn't going the right route. She wasn't good at solving problems like this. "You're not annoying. I like being around you, and I'd like for you to come with me. It'll be fun!" she said, hoping to lighten the mood. That had to work. "Allison and Brittney will be there, and Nathan. Mort will probably be there, too."

"Ah... y'know... teenage drama about the Homecoming dance, or some crap," he replied casually. "And... s-speaking of which..." he mumbled, digging his toe in nonexistent dirt.

Syndral blinked and then just continued to stare blankly. She didn't really say anything, as she honestly wasn't sure of what to say. She didn't really know what a Homecoming dance was or what the point of it was. It didn't sound like anything that she would be interested in. She didn't plan on going to whatever that was.

He felt a bit better now and was beginning to believe her but he was till a bit confused. "Why should it matter what your parents think? They'd love me anyways, I can cook, I can dance, and I can juggle, I'm the full package." He said with a grin, sitting up from his previously slouched position. "I really don't care who's at the dance as long as you will be there." Shane never was very romantic or poetic but that was probably because he never had a chance to be, but he meant what he said.

"Well... they're kinda... iffy about me just... well..." Rachel was looking at the floor, thinking. "It doesn't matter. I just needed more time to think about it, but there's really no reason for you-- us not going together. I mean, just because I can't dance to save my life doesn't mean we can't have fun together," she added, laughing a bit.

"You... y-you heard about the Homecoming thing, right?" Mort asked, as Diane's expression, as blank as it were, seemed to tell of confusion. "It's some dumb celebration of those football players, or something. It's a party, you see."

Syndral blinked again and quietly stared for another moment. Homecoming? Celebration? Football? Party? None of these terms really meant anything to her. She had heard certain rumors of this Homecoming nonsense, but she was still fairly clueless about it. It sounded stupid and pointless. At least Morph recognized that it seemed rather dumb. Still, if it was that dumb, then why even bring it up? To discuss how idiotic and pointless it was, and why in the world any race would even care for such an event? It seemed too irrelevant to even discuss.
"I heard of it." She muttered plainly. She didn't really know what else to add to that. She was wondering why he even brought it up.

"We could go in a limo! A-And we can have champagne and there will be fireworks and we can hold hands, but only if you wanna hold hands, and then we can go for ice cream and then we can go for dinner! I like meat, do you like meat? Pfft, who doesn't like meat!" He jumped up, it was almost time for his next class and he wasn't looking forward to it. He wanted to skip. "Hey....Maybe, if ya want, we could go out in the schoolyard, there's a really awesome tree out there that we could sit under, I mean, if you're alright with missing class?" He knew Mr. White would be extremely angry with him, but the rules stated that a teacher couldn't call a students parents unless they were absent three times, and he hadn't been absent once so he wasn't really worried.

Rachel was laughing along, relaxing and pushing herself off from the doorway. She stopped abruptly when Shane asked her to skip. No, she could never skip! It was already enough that they were about to miss class, but to skip?! "Oh... no, uh, I really need to go to class this time. Sorry... maybe we could go there for lunch?"


"It's really stupid and pointless. I mean why give a bunch of dumb brutes such honor for running across some field? Ah, anyway... as pointless as the whole thing is... I'd like to so some... eh... studying when at the party. 'Cause, you never know what you might find in such a flawed plan, am I right?" he explained, emphasizing certain words meaningfully.

"I see." She said plainly. Syndral thought this over for a moment. He did have a point there, admittedly. It could be a great opportunity to do some studying and learn some things about this human race. There would certainly be flaws and weaknesses in this absurd idea. Still, she didn't see much of a point in attending personally. It was obviously going to be a complete nightmare. The whole idea just sounded so dreadful. Syndral really had no intention of going herself.

"Although I see no reason why we can not simply study this event from afar. That way, we would not be forced to attend, and we would still get the information we require." She suggested. Syndral much preferred that idea, as she had already thought of a number of ways in which that could be done.

Mort frowned, glancing around him, and leaned closer to Diane. "But we need to keep appearances, and the others could end up being wary of us if we didn't come. Everyone's going," he whispered urgently. "Besides, we could get better information up close."

Syndral sighed, and muttered back, "I really had no intention of attending this event. It is rather pointless, and I believed attendance to be optional. It would simply end up being a waste of my time for the most part. There are other things I could be doing. Perhaps you could go and fill me in later, while I take care of other things."

What Diane was saying made sense. Attendance was optional, and she clearly wasn't the type to come to those kind of things, anyway. No one would suspect anything. He couldn't think of any way to persuade his colleague, as she made the better point. "Well... yeah... I was just..." he cleared his throat. "I just wanted to tell you about it for a head-up. I was going to do studies there, and I just wanted to make sure you knew. I... yeah...." Mort was still facing her, but avoiding eye contact. "I was just thinking that-- well, you obviously don't want to come in the first place but-- I... wondering if... if you did want to go, would you... go..." He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, and turned away with a sigh. "Ah-- never mind. It's nothing, I just... we gotta go to Ms. E's, now..." he glanced at his arm as if a wristwatch were there. "It's almost time for second period. Sorry to keep you." He started walking towards where the science class was. But instead he hid in the thinning crowd to where Rachel and Shane were, nonchalantly hanging around the lockers. It sounded like they were almost done.

OOC: Second period's about to start, Shane asked Rachel out and didn't get a direct answer (until he ran away, that is), Mort's talking to Diane, and the others haven't been posting much up to this point.
