Okay now wait a minute: nobody is insulting him or other youtubers from what I see here. Yes, people are complaining, they have a right to. That's not bias, it has to do with the fact that a lot of people are just not happy at all with this game. You don't have to white knight the game, it'll still come out and a lot of people will still buy it.

And 'smaller hitboxes' are rather pointless when it's really just a lower hitbox and almost every enemy attack is ground level.


The comment insulting them was deleted. It's very much bias when you deliberately say the Minis have an S1's hitbox just so you can criticize the game. It's not pointless, it's basic combat gameplay - you're not getting hit as much from the sides, from AoE attacks, or the odd projectile.
Yes it'll still come out and probably sell well, but can most users at least enjoy it without having all the obvious misinformation just so someone can say Activision is greedy and evil? It happened with the news thread - 20 pages of complaining drowning out news because some users couldn't be happy with anything in it.

The misinformation claims were that it was 'confirmed' that the Minis would have the same hitbox as the original skylanders and because of that it's obviously confirmed that Activision is lazy. It's kind of obvious because CountMoneyBone started talking about how 'useless' minis were everywhere.
But you know what? I don't want to bother with this argument anymore, I could be drawing instead of insiting that no one needs to hear a thousand times why someone thinks the game will flop and I reduced to namecalling since no one is going back to actually check those comments. You guys care as much about arguing as you care about the game.
I said what I wanted already and I just want to hear about that Nightmare Express content that was said to be around today. You know, enjoying something about the game.

I posted my exact same comment except for swapping the "inappropiate" term for "quid pro quo". I've read many instances in literature where those terms are used to describe the exact same relationship, so "quid pro quo" must be insulting as well.

Ooooh, I hadn't seen much game footage before now! The FGTV video makes TT look like a lot of fun. Mags is great. ^_^ And it is confirmed that now I really can just have my all ladies (and Eyebrawl) team if I want to play that way. :D

I like how you can now jump and attack at the same time. I was disappointed that you couldn't do that in Swap Force.

I'm really tempted to watch the gameplay videos this year like last year, but I don't want to ruin the levels for me. Last year, I made the mistake of reading the cool part of the kaos' mom fight in a spoiler and the game felt boring to play, I knew what was gonna happen. I'm not making that same mistake

For as much as I've spent on this game, you better believe when I gripe, I have a reason for doing so.

With each new game, you build upon the foundation of the past games. Swap Force brought true HD to the game. It modernized EVERY character. Some had fur now, while others just popped on the screen. Now, with Trap Team, you can see the visuals aren't as detailed as Swap Force was (PS4 version, meaning). It matters to me, because I bought a second PS4 (the first got forcibly taken) just to play Trap Team on it, because Swap Force looked freaking incredible on that system. Absolutely stunning.

But now it looks like it was built on the 360, PS3, or Wii U, and was ported. If I recall correctly, I think Swap Force was built on the PS4/X1 and downscaled to the 360, PS3, Wii U. That's why everything had a filtered look to it. Trap Team looks crisp on the PS4, sure. However, when I compare the small details of Swap Force on the PS4 to the small details of Trap Team on the PS4, you can tell Swap Force is definitely more texture heavy, even in the characters when displayed on their profile screen. When they showed Bushwhack on his profile screen, you could see jaggies along his character, while you see no jaggies on characters on their stat screen on Swap Force on PS4.

Another issue I am having as of late, is definitely warranted.

If it's true TFB said that eventually they can't support all characters, then that's a huge problem. This game costs a lot to fully enjoy. If they can't at least give your purchases a purpose, then why did we buy them? I mean, it's bad enough Giant chests don't return, Sap Zones don't return (those were fun as heck, they could have at least thrown them in there), and you can't even use Core Skylanders to open Elemental Gates anymore, us Skylander fans have to question what their line of thinking was in the 2 years since they released their last game (TFsmilie?

On top of that, the game seems lite on game modes. One reason I've been playing the absolute crap out of Swap Force, is VV gave me a reason to. Over 480 stars to collect, Time Attack Mode (love beating friends' times), Score Attack Mode (absolutely love this mode and beating friends' scores), and beating my friends' scores on Bonus Missions and Solo Survival Missions, plus a game that is already longer than Giants, and you have the making of a game with longevity.

The only thing I know about Trap Team, is Brock is back with his Arena Battles. If it's anything like Giants, it won't take long to clear. No mention of Bonus Missions or Heroics, so might as well count those out. Solo Survival Missions were different than Bonus Missions, and no word on them.

Literally, what is there to do besides play Skystones and Arena Battles, that I'm sure won't add up to the amount of Bonus and Survival Missions there were in Swap Force?

When I knew TFB was taking 2 years to develop Trap Team, it made me think, "well, maybe we will get a 20+ main story like Spyro's Adventure, while also getting at least 4 Adventure Packs again, since they had more time." However, for the development time they've had, we don't get Battle Packs, and it seems like there are only 2 Adventure Packs on top of an 18 chapter Story Mode.

It just seems underwhelming. I say this as a normally optimistic and quiet Skylander fan who has put 4 grand into buying 16 of each swapper alone, only to know that one day TFB can't support them anymore, because of what?

I swear, if I were Paul, I'd be holding a meeting -

Paul: Alright, fellas, we're going to break the 100 mark on unique Skylanders, yet we have two games that only support 37 and 99, while another supports 174. People aren't playing the past games. How do we fix this?
TFB Employee: Well, we could always revisit the past games. The lore is setup that Skylands has always had Giants in it, and 100 years prior, the Swap Force protected Cloudbreak Islands.
Paul: Right, right.
TFB Employee 2: So, maybe we should modernize those games. Give Skylander owners a reason to play those games again.
Paul: Modernize? Oh, I get it. Release a bundle of the past 3 games, after Trap Team releases. We give Spyro's Adventure and Giants upgraded visuals using VV's excellent graphics engine, while also allowing fans to play with their entire collection in all games? I like that idea. It would allow customers to get the most out of the toys they have bought.

Seriously... if Trap Team shows us that the only wealth in gameplay comes from Trap Masters (ie only ones who can open Elemental Gates, access new places when breaking Traptanium), why can't they release past games with upgraded visuals and allow ALL figures from Trap Team and prior to be playable?

I recently started going through Spyro's Adventure again, and it kinda sucked only being able to play as 32 of my 80 unique Skylanders. So, when I replay Giants, I can play as 48 of 80, still leaving 32 in the dust.

A Skylanders compilation would rock awesome, especially if they allow ALL characters to be played in it. The story is already messed up (Elder Elementals;Giants don't possess Light/Dark powers, KAOS' Mom looks totally different, among other things), so what's wrong with re-releasing previous games and allow the customer to play as characters from future games, especially if one day our characters won't work in future games?

Another thing I would have done if I ran TFB/VV, is release 2 games a year. ONE GAME HAS NO NEEDED EQUIPMENT! Simply put, I would make Stories from Skylands (1, 2, 3, etc until the wheels fall off). It would be a standalone product allowing all of your figures to be played. It would contain 16-20 chapters per game and it would just be various stories/missions throughout Skylands. Think Adventure Pack stories, but all contained on one disc, involving Flynn's travels, or people coming to Skylands Academy, seeking the help of Skylanders.

It goes a long way in showing the customer that they aren't wasting their money on figures who won't work one day on future games. You build Stories from Skylands on the foundation of the characters that are available now.

I suppose typing this won't get us anywhere. We could only hope. However, I've been hearing more bad news lately, than news regarding Trap Team. It's disheartening. We should be seeing everything this game has to offer, but instead we're hearing more about future compatibility of figures being nixed, Trap Master only accessible areas in Trap Team, Lack of Series 2/3/4 Skylanders in the Tech, Undead, and Earth Element, and what seems to be a very lite game in the mode department. It certainly frustrates me, because with as much as Swap Force gave us, Trap Team should give us more. Otherwise, why are we buying these 10-15 dollar toys?

very long read but an interesting read. when it comes to the game engine i think tfb have their own game engine that is upgraded from the skylanders giants. while vv have also their own but they have made it from scratch on the ps4. that is why there is differences between swap force and trap team.

when it comes to more gaming content, as i understand (if im not wrong) villain will have their own level where you can upgrade them. these are secret levels in the game you must explore and find, these extra levels will be the replacements for swap zones/heroics. i think its here the more replay value comes from.

The only thing I know about Trap Team, is Brock is back with his Arena Battles. If it's anything like Giants, it won't take long to clear. No mention of Bonus Missions or Heroics, so might as well count those out. Solo Survival Missions were different than Bonus Missions, and no word on them.

Literally, what is there to do besides play Skystones and Arena Battles, that I'm sure won't add up to the amount of Bonus and Survival Missions there were in Swap Force?

When I knew TFB was taking 2 years to develop Trap Team, it made me think, "well, maybe we will get a 20+ main story like Spyro's Adventure, while also getting at least 4 Adventure Packs again, since they had more time." However, for the development time they've had, we don't get Battle Packs, and it seems like there are only 2 Adventure Packs on top of an 18 chapter Story Mode.

It just seems underwhelming. I say this as a normally optimistic and quiet Skylander fan who has put 4 grand into buying 16 of each swapper alone, only to know that one day TFB can't support them anymore, because of what?

I swear, if I were Paul, I'd be holding a meeting -

Paul: Alright, fellas, we're going to break the 100 mark on unique Skylanders, yet we have two games that only support 37 and 99, while another supports 174. People aren't playing the past games. How do we fix this?
TFB Employee: Well, we could always revisit the past games. The lore is setup that Skylands has always had Giants in it, and 100 years prior, the Swap Force protected Cloudbreak Islands.
Paul: Right, right.
TFB Employee 2: So, maybe we should modernize those games. Give Skylander owners a reason to play those games again.
Paul: Modernize? Oh, I get it. Release a bundle of the past 3 games, after Trap Team releases. We give Spyro's Adventure and Giants upgraded visuals using VV's excellent graphics engine, while also allowing fans to play with their entire collection in all games? I like that idea. It would allow customers to get the most out of the toys they have bought.

Seriously... if Trap Team shows us that the only wealth in gameplay comes from Trap Masters (ie only ones who can open Elemental Gates, access new places when breaking Traptanium), why can't they release past games with upgraded visuals and allow ALL figures from Trap Team and prior to be playable?

I recently started going through Spyro's Adventure again, and it kinda sucked only being able to play as 32 of my 80 unique Skylanders. So, when I replay Giants, I can play as 48 of 80, still leaving 32 in the dust.

A Skylanders compilation would rock awesome, especially if they allow ALL characters to be played in it. The story is already messed up (Elder Elementals;Giants don't possess Light/Dark powers, KAOS' Mom looks totally different, among other things), so what's wrong with re-releasing previous games and allow the customer to play as characters from future games, especially if one day our characters won't work in future games?

Another thing I would have done if I ran TFB/VV, is release 2 games a year. ONE GAME HAS NO NEEDED EQUIPMENT! Simply put, I would make Stories from Skylands (1, 2, 3, etc until the wheels fall off). It would be a standalone product allowing all of your figures to be played. It would contain 16-20 chapters per game and it would just be various stories/missions throughout Skylands. Think Adventure Pack stories, but all contained on one disc, involving Flynn's travels, or people coming to Skylands Academy, seeking the help of Skylanders.

It goes a long way in showing the customer that they aren't wasting their money on figures who won't work one day on future games. You build Stories from Skylands on the foundation of the characters that are available now.

I suppose typing this won't get us anywhere. We could only hope. However, I've been hearing more bad news lately, than news regarding Trap Team. It's disheartening. We should be seeing everything this game has to offer, but instead we're hearing more about future compatibility of figures being nixed, Trap Master only accessible areas in Trap Team, Lack of Series 2/3/4 Skylanders in the Tech, Undead, and Earth Element, and what seems to be a very lite game in the mode department. It certainly frustrates me, because with as much as Swap Force gave us, Trap Team should give us more. Otherwise, why are we buying these 10-15 dollar toys?

@GM: I share similar concerns. I do think a "remastering" that would include all skylanders in all games might be a good project---when they are done making these games. I would go so far as to say they will make a "toy independent" version of all of these games...long after these games become a distant memory.

I recall TfB saying they will make this game "more kid friendly"---unfortunately I read into that all of the game play intensity I got from VV's game was going to be missing. So far, it's panning out to be correct. I honestly think this is how TfB thinks about Skylanders....and VV's appears to be more player friendly than kid friendly. take it or leave it, I guess.

Personally, I like how TfB renders its characters from a personality perspective, but VV has the tech down cold. I'd honestly wish the two shops could combine, because I think the outcome would be nothing but pure win for the fans.

I'm quite taken aback that these videos are of the PS4 version.....those graphics do NOT look like the high quality, up to standard detailed graphics shown in press images months back. There is no excuse for 360 looking graphics this many games in and with a system as powerful as PS4.

Hopefully in person this game will look more like what you'd expect. The images shown months back of Kaos & Chompy Mage in particular was impressive.

A southern accent and you assume that it's Ashleigh Ball? I dunno man, it's a southern accent. It's a pretty easy voice to do, which is why almost all southern imitation accents sound similar. All generic southern accent's sound the same. But, it's not exactly difficult to ask if you want.

Well, as long as VV makes full featured Skylanders games, I can't wait for each year VV does it. I just hope the rumors I'm hearing aren't true, in that one day our figures won't work on a future game. I hope future games don't require yet another portal, and every new game offers new villains to trap.

I don't want this series becoming the next Guitar Hero. However, if TFB/VV allow it, they had it coming, due to Acti only caring about money and not respect for any given property. TFB/VV need to draw a line somewhere and let characters sell themself, not gimmicks, which costs us gamers... not them.

Agreed! TfB (And VV) genuinely care the franchise. I feel like they want to do more game-wise , but Acti won't allow them because to them it's to "risky". Acti only cares for money, while TfB and VV care for the fans (And money as well). TfB needs to draw that line somewhere and say. "No, THIS is what WE want to do! It's fun, it's innovative and it's what the FANS want."

I would buy a game that doesn't have a single gimmick to it. If they'd hand us a set of 32 awesome, original characters, great gameplay and tons more to do, that would make me happy.

I honestly thought that they should have held off on gimmicks until the third game, if none at all. That would make the gimmick more appealing in my eyes.

I hope that the "incentive to replay levels" comment means levels are more interesting/dynamic each play. Compared to Swapforce which makes you replay normal/time/score which makes it a total drag since it's basically the same thing but with different numbers on your screen.
