Had a serious athsma attack and nearly collapsed, sent off to the hospital [CLOSED]

I was just eating breakfast with my mom and older brother, when I suddenly felt kind of off and unbalanced, so I excused myself to the bathroom. I came back a couple minutes later to the table with my hands on top of my head to control the air circulation I was trying to get into my lungs. My older brother notices, and says "hey, why don't we get some fresh air outside." At this point I was really, really having a hard time. My brother was trying to comfort me, but then I told him
"Convince mom to take me to the hospital. I feel like I will pass out".
Or something like that, I could hardly breathe and apparently I became incredibly pale and he could hear me wheezing. Thus, my brother ran back into the restaurant and told my mom
"hey, we need to get _____ to the hospital, he's going to pass out."
While waiting for the both of them, my right eye started becoming insanely teary eyed for some reason. Although, I had been having issues with that certain eye, and dealing with a runny and stuffy nose for two weeks now.
My mom and my brother came into the car, and my mom looked at me and yelled
"What the **** happened to you?!" as I was gasping for air and could hardly speak unless I wanted to feel like puking.
Now, my older brother decided to sit right next to me and watch after me while my mom sped to the hospital going 60 (we were close, but I really felt like I was about to pass out). My older brother decoded to out his hand on my back and help me out, but I tried my best to tell him "don't put it on my back, it hurts". So thus, he held his hand against my arm and kept reassuring me that it would be OK. He was really kind too, he told me to look at him and once again said
"You will be okay" (At this point I was having such a hard time breathing and was coughing and losing my breath constantly).

We finally made it to the hospital and the wait took forever (even though we were here at 6 AM at a 24 hour ER, but it was Sunday...), but I finally got in my room. The doctors and nurses ordered a double nebulizer treatment and an IV of steroids and an IV of liquids, and also drew blood. I didn't start to feel better until ten minutes in of the double nebulizer treatment. My breathing levels were around 70-80% when I got in apparently, but by the time I left was at 97%. I was in the hospital for roughly four hours (not to mention, I was up the whole previous night).

Also, it looks like I had a HORRIBLE nasty upper respiratory infection, and a lot of gunk (not wax) in my right ear that the Dr. believes must have complicated my athsma.

I didn't go into much detail, but by the time my brother pushed my wheelchair into the hospital the Nurse said I looked like I was about to pass out and tried to refrain from asking questions so I could just breathe, I was in horrible condition.

I ended up with five brand new prescriptions, and was told to take them religiously for two weeks until they can make sure everything cleared up, and I also got a new rescue inhaler. The Dr. and nurses also mentioned if I was in that low of condition again, to call 911 (I was really bad).

I have an appointment for a check up on the fifteenth to make sure my athsma levels are good and steady like they should be, and I'm sure they will be. I feel a lot better and my skin pigment returned to normal.

I would have posted this yesterday, but I was trying to catch up and rest. Also, thanks thumper for checking up on me! (:

I'll post a picture of my ugly sickly self if you guys would like to see it, ha. I'm just happy through the power of medicine and prayers that God had favor on me.

I can relate. Asthma absolutely sucks. I used to have those kind of attacks when I was really young, and I actually had a machine at home for my asthma because it was so bad. Thankfully I haven't had an asthma attack in years and it's pretty rare now, but it sucks when you get one so bad that you have to go to the ER.

anyways, glad to see you're okay! smilie

Oh my gosh! I'm glad you're doing okay. That must have been really scary... D: You're very lucky, I've heard those types of asthma attacks are very easily lethal. Glad you're fine now. smilie

Are you that stupid or just an ignorant brat? And to think that you're 17 and is dating someone. On a less positive note, I'm now scared because I have Asthma.

Does it feel the same as getting the wind knocked out of you? Sorry if you don't wanna answer just wondering

Glad that you're okay now anyway. Not being able to breathe probably sucks

"/blog" posts aren't entertaining when somebody on this board is actually going through a crisis or emergency. You just made yourself look like a dick. You're 17, man. Grow up.

I can't quote everyone on this since I am on my phone...sorry. But thanks everyone, I feel nearly 100% better, except for some tightness of my back/chest area I had for a few hours today (the steroids they gave me kicked in finally).

As for the user who asked if the athsma attack felt like getting the wind knocked out of me? You could say that, but for a long period of time. My breathing honestly did not catch up until they gave me a double nebulizer treatment, which of course was an hour or so period of an albuterol mask on me.

And for the other user who just got diagnosed with athsma, I hope its not a serious case...when I was diagnosed with it in 2005, my athsma wasn't bad at all. Very controlled. Although, recently, its been getting kind of bad...which isn't good, since I am in my adulthood and it is less likely to turn around since I'm not growing as much as I was as a kid. ALTHOUGH, it could have been a good allergy or something too...so hopefully it doesn't happen again...

I had an attack once in 1st grade but it wasn't that bad tbh. Do you know the reason for the attack?

Well I'm finally starting to feel much better. My sleep schedule is back to normal too, although I did wake up wheezing this morning. I have my check up on the fifteenth, so hopefully that goes well.

I don't know if its because I'm clearing up the infection, but I've been coughing up some weird mucus :/ but oh well
