Sierra returning with old franchises [CLOSED]

Kind of. Activision are reviving the 'Sierra' label for some of their future games (presumably those that were previously owned by the company) with the promise of further details at this years Gamescom this week.



So, I'm just going to get it off my chest; Crash. It's sat and done nothing under Activision so could this be the opportunity to bring it back? It's... Possible, though much more likely that it'll be related to one of Sierra's older series.

Ooh, looks interesting. Can't wait to see what comes of it. I do agree with you that it seems more likely that it would be for an older series, but a new Crash game would be nice (as long as it's not related to Titans or MOM, which I really didn't like), or, dare I say...

A new Spyro game? They did publish the Legend series, after all. As super unlikely as it is, it would be awesome...

Hooray!

Nngh, I really hope they don't attempt to bring back the "Mutant" themed games. I just want a traditional platformer or something along the lines of Twinsanity.

All I want is another boss fight with N. Tropy.

Agreed. Wrath of Cortex was fun, but they just slapped Crunch all over it, which got old.
I want a game similar to Warped, but with way more levels and bosses.

I actually prefer Cortex Strikes Back, Warped felt a little too... gimmicky? for me. Jet ski levels, biplane levels, motorcycle levels... too many levels that weren't just platforming (although Warped's N. Gin is still my all time favorite Crash boss). It's the same reason I prefer Ripto's Rage over YotD.

...But seriously, a teaser of their new logo is nothing to go off of. We'll have to see what Gamescom brings. On the one hand, ActiBlizz has the money and clout to give the Sierra Games monicker resources it lacked in its final years. On the other hand, it's Activision, and this could just turn out to be a label for churning out repetitive games I couldn't care less about. I don't think that assigning a name to something guarantees it'll have the magic of the olden days. Like, even though Blizzard's name is still around, it really hasn't felt like the same developer/publisher since that merger put it under Activision's control. XP

Hope in the video game market can set you up for serious disappointment if your expectations aren't met. I believe an open mind is the best option here. It's an exciting prospect, but I want to see what's really going to happen first. <.<

I know, and I do realize how very unlikely it would be to get, and honestly I would probably be happy with whatever happens...

I just really want one. You know, like if I found a genie bottle it would go

but even if they do make spyro and crash again, will it even be the same? Sierra was involved with AHT, SL and TLOS series. And as for crash, they were involved with Twinsanity, the titan one and MOM.

Even if they do try and make a spyro and/or crash game, which isn't likely (for Spyro anyway since he's now in Skylanders with a new design), I can't see it being any good. I admit I did enjoy AHT and Twinsanity, but they're still aren't as good as the original games.

i think they will go straight back to tlos series, after all 'Dawn of the Dragon' was made for the lastgen consoles. so it shouldn't be that hard to go from there to something new and great adventures story ideas smilie

I think they should go back to the world of tlos, maybe spyro and cynder hav a son or something? Oh, wait, I forgot, everyone seems to hate that idea! Well, maybe tlos with more female characters.
