Ok, while most of us won't be buying every little thing that's available for Trap Team, collectors will and most of us will be buying a good chunk of all this. Lets say you were going to buy everything. How much would that cost?

There are 40 traps. 40 x 5.99 = 239.6
There will be 2 Trap Masters for every element. There are 8 elements. 16 trap masters in total. 16 x 14.99 = 239.84

Now since we don't know what characters are going go be in the triple packs yet, i'll leave triple packs out of this for now. Same goes for the sidekicks. While it hasn't been confirmed how many core characters there will be, we know that there will be at least 60 new skylanders all together. There are 16 trap masters so take that away from 60 and were left with 44. I assume that there will be two sidekicks for each element, so 16 of those too. Since there is two sidekicks in each pack, 16 divided by 2. 8. 8 x 13.99 = 111.92

That leaves us with 28 core characters. 28 x 9.99 = 279.72
Now lets add it all up.

Traps: 239.6
Trap Masters: 239.84
Sidekicks: 111.92
Core Characters: 279.72

Starter Pack: 70
Dark Starter Pack: 99.99

And all that equalsa grand total of $1,041.07
So yeah, around thousand bucks. This is kind of insane. Are people like the SkylanderBoyAndGirl and all those other big collectors out there seriously going to pay this?
Now, this is roughly what the final bill will look like. We'll be able to get a more accurate number knce we know who's going to be in the triple packs, whether or not Skdekicks will be sold seperatly ect....

28 cores where did you get that? There's defiantly 26 cores maybe more.

Well there will be more than 60 new Skylanders all together. Probably 62 or something. For this, I just said 60 because its because we don't know an exact number yet, Just that its going to be close to 60.
16 trap masters and 16 sidekicks = 32. 60-32 = 28

Sidekicks don't count as Skylanders, so don't take 16 figures off the count for sidekicks.

the number of cores will be a multiple of 8, and most likely 32, like the past games, with their being 16 new, 16 reposes.
28 is an odd number for cores, it'll mean 4 element have 3 and 4 elements have 4, which i can't see them doing

i agree with the article you quoted in that i think the "18 all new characters" will be 2 new sidekicks, to fill out the 8 elements, and 16 new core.

Do the traps come with a card/sticker? If they don't I will probably buy my traps pre owned.

That depends on if they turned them into their own character. I mean, when has a magic item been in the 3DS edition?

With BOGO and Buy 3 for $20 and so on at TRU that number drastically changes. Not to mention Black Friday Deals and Xmas deals.

normal games cost $35-55. just think of all the games you could have bought for the $1,041.07..

Right now all swap starter packs are 20$ so if you wait for deals like that, you'll pay less then 1000$

The traps do not come with cards or stickers. The starter packs come with 1 card+sticker per skylander (including Barkley for the 3DS version), and none for the traps.
